? 7-26 Snickers - AMPS 228 - +3 =81; +4 =74 -- give gravy?

Could you please update your SS? I'd like to see what's been going on over the last few days before advising.

Also, is this a PMPS number? What have his other numbers been like earlier today?

I'd not jump the gun on giving gravy as these are beautiful numbers for mid-cycle surfing...I'm just not sure where he's been today or recently or where he's on his way to now.

Let's see what he's all about earlier today...he may continue to slide down a bit which isn't bad for a mid-cycle surf...will he eat low carb food right now? TO keep the surfing going?

Beautiful mid-day surfing then! No gravy needed. Are you going to be around the rest of the day to test? If you're nervous about these new greens then you can test hourly - I do - because Luci is sneaky and likes to go visit the sharks. When she gets to 50 or 51 I feed her medium carb food and because she responds very well to 15% carb food, I check her again in an hour. She did that today! Do you know how well Snicker's responds to 15% or 16% carb food?

Also were you unable to get any tests the last few nights? Always a good idea to get a test at least once before going to bed. Unfortunately these kitties do their best surfing at night - when we're all tired - and you'll miss out on some beautiful beach/surfing numbers by not testing.

Thanks for reassuring me. This is all new, so I am worried.

I will have to see if we have 15% food. I will be home, I'll test him every hour.

Always a good idea to pick up a few cans of gravy style Fancy Feast when you're shopping for the low carb pate's. I keep it in a separate drawer and I write the carb content on the bottom of the can with a Sharpie pen. It's really helpful for two reasons to do it this way: 1)Keeps you from accidentally opening a can of higher carb food accidentally and 2)Keeps the gravy style/higher carb foods in a safe spot for when you do need to give it. I remember the first time Luci's numbers dropped too low for comfort and my heart was racing - I ran and got that food out and fed her and tested and tested...it IS nerve wracking in the beginning...but you'll get used to it...and it's great when you're prepared.

Often the 'hypo-kit' - that's what it's called around here, contains karo syrup or honey or maple syrup - basically anything sweet like that will do; plenty of test strips and even a back up meter - just in case and of course a nice selection of gravy style foods. It'll give you peace of mind to know that you're prepared for some late night when those numbers may slide down and down...then you'll post and ask for help - and you'll have a pajama party!

All part of the process. :)
