I was away from Kitty Cat for the first time in a very long time and he was definitely not happy about it. I went on vacation for a week and had a cat sitter come in 2x a day for shot time and fill the auto feeder. He got food at shot time, +4 and +10.
Cat sitter was great, Kitty Cat was super friendly with her, no problems there. But his BG was very high the whole week, I think due to stress of being home alone most of the time. I've been away from him before during the day and noticed his BG would spike, and then go back down over the next few days when I was home 24/7 again.
I had the cat sitter increase a bit but I wasn't thinking straight and should've had her increase more. I think it's possible she might've had some fur shots as well. Another difference is that she was only comfortable shooting in the scruff area whereas I've always done his sides. I hear sides are more effective?
I got back yesterday and increased to 1.25u (1.5mm) so hopefully I can get him back down to better numbers.

I hope you had a good vacations.

I never noticed a difference. I shot scruff or below the shoulder blades most of the time. Neko wasn't fond of flank shots, though I did try a few.

Any chance Kitty Cat was eating less while you were gone? He was hitting 50's on the skinny 1 unit, so sees odd to see those higher numbers, unless it was fur shots or bouncing. I'd keep a close eye on him with the new dose. Good luck with it.

Thank you Wendy! Vacation was good but I was honestly really sad to leave Kitty Cat behind and was constantly watching him through a pet camera the whole week!!

I had the cat sitter come over a few days before to go over our routine. I had her do the PM shot but she missed and I called it an FS since I think most of it ended up on her fingers and she was bleeding. I told her if she pets the injection area and smells insulin on her fingers or if she stabs herself while injecting, he probably didn't get the full dose or any at all. So while I was away, she texted me every shot time that she didn't smell/feel/see any insulin. So idk if it's a fur shot or maybe there were still air bubbles in the syringe. Can't say for sure.

As for food, he actually got fed more than usual, but less frequent since autofeeder only has 4 slots and I wanted to make the portion measurements easier on the cat sitter. During vacation, he got 2 cans total. (1/2 can with shots and 1/4 can 2x between shots)
Usually I'll feed him max 1 &3/4 cans total (5/8 can with shots and then ~1/16 can 3-4 times between shots both AM and PM)
Sorry for all the weird fractions. I use a butter knife and cut the can like a pie throughout the day. Found this to be easiest for me.

It seems he was bouncing after the 51 on 7/11, then the FS on 7/14 maybe threw things off track? He's below 200 right now but rising at PM+2.

Question: Should it take long to get over the effects/lack of effects of a fur shot? He usually clears bounces from low numbers pretty quickly so I'm used to that now. But I don't really understand how missed shots work.
