Hello!!

Yesterday's condo: viewtopic.php?f=9&t=122351

Last night, I came home to a small spot of soft poo on the carpet a couple feet from the litter box. This morning, I just discovered some more in the same spot, and it definitely came from Billie because she had some in her fur. There was also some stool in the litter box that went from normal to soft toward the end, so maybe that was hers and she let a couple squirts of it out outside the box. That is very odd for her - she has never gone outside the box before, even when she has had bouts of diarrhea (like when the vet put her on disgusting Hill's CD dry food for bladder crystals). I called the vet, but they are totally booked up today, so she has an appointment for Monday morning, and I asked them to have her vet call me today.

I can't think of anything that would be upsetting her stomach, so I'm worried. Her appetite is normal though, and she's acting normal. The litter box is clean, so I don't think she was protesting the "conditions" or anything. I'll keep an eye on her and see what the vet says.

In other news, she took a fast lane trip to green last night and bounced up this morning, but seems to be breaking that bounce.

Looks like she might be bounce clearing for you already! :smile: Bille, no need to dive - sliding down slowly works just as well. Do you think the turducken buffet last night might be responsible for the loose stools? Hopefully it's something very temporary and her tummy is feeling better soon.

Hi Jen! Thanks for stopping by. That's a good point...the first loose stool I found last night happened before the Turducken buffet, but if she already had an upset stomach, I'm sure that didn't help. She ate a lot more between PS and +3 than she usually does - I guess she worked up an appetite diving from 185 to 62 in 2.25 hours!! I hope it clears up and she feels better soon. I will be stalking the litter box.

Is that a new food for her? If so it is almost certainly the culprit. I hope it's a one shot thing. you might give her a little canned pure pumpkin or squash baby food.

Thanks Elise. It's not a new food - it has been her favorite for the past couple months. She did have a newish food earlier in the day yesterday - Evo beef - but she has had it maybe 4 times before without an upset stomach.

Actually, now that I think about it, she did have more parmesan than usual yesterday...some sprinkles during her AM cycle and also at PMPS because she wasn't eating much at first. Maybe that was it. I'll make today a no beef/no parm day.

Going outside the little box like that probably means it was an accident. She may have had that extra on her fur and rubbed it off there, or it just dropped off. I often find bits of poo near the litter box that stuck to the fur and then dropped off - especially with my long-haired cat.

Eating too much could definitely contribute to an existing upset, too. How is she otherwise? Does she seem to be feeling well?

Thanks Tricia! It is totally possible that some drops stuck to her fur and then dropped off after she left the litter box...I didn't think of that. She does have a very fluffy bum! And there was a bit more in her fur when I checked her out, so that makes a lot of sense.

Otherwise, she seems totally normal. Her appetite is normal, and she's acting normal - currently sprawled out in the window seat grooming.

Thank you all for the help!! I really appreciate it. I get nervous any time something doesn't seem right, but I know that it's often nothing.

Her vet called back and said not to worry unless it keeps happening or her appetite is bad, but I can keep my Monday appointment in case we end up needing it.

No diarrhea tonight! Just one normal looking poo in the litter box. I'm pretty sure it came from Billie, because it was covered up, and Brooklyn never covers her business...it's like she doesn't flush.

Thanks Elise! I love the green :mrgreen: We are having a PJ party but I think it's bed time. Thank goodness for caffeine and Netflix.
