Today's visit with the IM vet went pretty good. She came in and sat down on the floor facing Tigger who was chilling in his carrier with the door open - that endeared her to me right away. Got lots of great info and she was way more reasonable about switching a picky eater to a prescription diet that will, frankly, ruin his good FD progress.

To rule out dehydration they ran ANOTHER kidney profile, this time with a repeat urinalysis as well, so we will know more after the results come in tomorrow. The second time we had it done at his regular vet they had an awful time even getting enough blood and were unable to get urine, so she feels the increase we saw just 2 weeks later may be somewhat false. I know its another 150 bucks but it really matters as he is straddling Stage 2 & 3 and will help us moving forward.

For now she does not think the SEB is helping as he is still vomiting and it is water in the am half the time. She wants to see what cerenia given daily (versus as needed) will do first. And she also said Pepcid or famotidine does not work as well with cats, but omeprazole does - which I had not heard or read anywhere yet. But we will hold off adding to see if cerenia works. And yes we discussed ondansetron as a possible thing to try as well.

We also discussed Phosphate binders but feels they are not needed as we are searching out lower phosphate foods he likes and his levels are really not that bad. We may try Omega 3's and gave me the name of SeaVet. Anyone tried this? Sub Q fluids were discussed as a possibility in the future but don't seem needed now. After the blood work results we may consider an ultrasound. It's been a year since he's had one and can help us with treatment plans.

Also, Tigger did great too! No blood drawn - that gabapentin sure did make him wide eyed and woozy though! All in all I was pleasantly surprised by the visit. I got a 4 page email like 2 hours after leaving with so much detail and stuff I was amazed - really like their communication at this vet. Now we wait for results.
