A brief update on how Sulo is doing:
His thirst has indeed gone back to how it was before diabetes (i.e. most hydration from food or trying to drink from inappropriate places such as the shower floor, OUR water pitcher and so forth). Furthermore, while his hind legs are still not okay (still walking on his hocks like before), his movements in general have become more confident and controlled. He's not tripping on the carpet edges anymore and he's actually running after us if we go to the kitchen. Which brings me to his appetite - he's still absolutely ravenous 24/7. We've resolved to give him about 3.5 pouches of Natures:Menu Adult wet food a day, in 1/2 or 1/3 portions throughout the day. When I tried to test his blood glucose levels last night and he wouldn't have any of it but wanted to wrestle instead (my arm vs. his four paws and teeth), and I'm actually glad about it because it shows he's recovering. So, clinical symptoms are gradually disappearing or becoming less pronounced (for good, hopefully).
Due to a number of reasons, I haven't tested his blood glucose levels as frequently over the past few days. I'll do some more today and hopefully a full curve before weekend if I don't have to go to the office. His numbers are, as you can see, all over the place currently. The vet called me about all the tests that were done at an external lab and luckily they all came back negative (I forgot to ask them to send the results to me), so I suppose it's now down to Sulo's body getting fully comfortable with insulin, the dose being right, and us doing the right thing with his diet (I'm finally going to get him vitamin B supplement, which includes methylcobalamin). Anything else you can suggest outside the possible dosage adjustment?
