Good evening LL,

yesterday's condo

WCR Sara is not any better. I have a vet appointment for tomorrow. I could have brought her in today but it would have been to the same one that saw her last week and I want her to see her normal vet. I think last week was a wasted trip. I think it's some kind of skin problem and I think all her symptoms are from the same thing. I feel so bad for her. Her right ear is red and bumpy. As lost some of the hair on that ear too. It looks so sore. She has red crusty things in both ears and her eyes are still running. It's a good thing I can still use her other ear for sc's. She sleeps most of the time, but she does eat and use the lb. She won't take a treat anymore with her pill in it so I have to pop it in myself but that hasn't been going to bad.

I can't wait for tomorrow. I'm only working half a day so I can take her. I'll post tomorrow after her visit. I've never seen anything like this before.

She's sleeping under the kitchen table right now. I'm not going to bother her.

So sorry to hear about Sara. That sounds miserable and sore for her. I sure hope your Vet can get her some help and relief. Sending some healing vines and a good Vet visit tomorrow. We'll be waiting for an update.
 
Good luck with the vet tomorrow!! Glad to hear you'll get to see your regular vet. I went through months of skin problems with Willie and it turned out to be pemphigus, a (manageable with the right meds) auto-immune disease. If your vet doesn't offer immediate answers and treatment options I'd push for a skin biopsy. They can be a little pricey, though I think ours was higher in part because we had it done at a specialty vet clinic by a dermatologist. (Yes, Willie has a dermatologist. :roll:).. I think it is a worthwhile investment, though as it will provide you quick answers to what it is, or at least to what it isn't and it will allow you to more quickly zero in on the correct diagnosis and treatment.

On the off chance that it is pemphigus, the typical treatment involves steroids, which can make controlling the FD difficult. Willie is on cyclosporine, which has worked wonderfully in controlling his condition. He takes a pill every 4 days and is otherwise completely normal with no effect on his BG#s at all!

Hi Jan & Sara, We'll be thinking of you tomorrow as you see the vet and sure do hope that he can diagnose Sara's problem. Lots of healing vines heading your way. Poor Sara must be really uncomfortable. Have you tried a little saline solution on her ears? (not in the eyes, however!). I have found that it works on many skin things (and since it is only saltwater, it wouldn't harm Sara).

Hi Jan - sorry that I have missed all that is going on with Sara. And that you have had trouble getting good help for her. I wish you luck at the vet's tomorrow, and really hope they can figure out what us ailing her. In the photos it looked like acne, but I wonder since it seems to be affecting other areas as well. Poor Sara! Be better little! I will be thinking of you guys.

If it is something that she needs cyclosporine for, remember it is an immunosuppressant so if she has herpes virus or anything like that, it can bring it out. Of course, there are ways to handle herpes virus but just wanted to let you know because vets don't always tell the full story.
