NC State Vet contacted my vet and recommended that I increase Max’s amlodipine to 1.25 mg twice daily instead of once daily. I didn’t realize amlodipine could cause hyperglycemia in diabetics, but it’s the drug of choice for cats that have hypertension with kidney disease. That explains a lot. I’m thinking he needs another Lev increase anyway.

I didn't know that either. There've been lots of cats here on amlodipine that haven't reacted that way. I hope it helps his BP. Telimisartan is an alternative some cats have been on.

He’s on enalapril as well so that one might not be recommended for Max. I hope his blood pressure improves but we’ve really got to get his glucose a little more stable too. I hope it doesn’t affect him too much in that way. He gets another BP check in a week or two.
