Excited for your first blue! Yes, Marley, way to go. More blues please. It's on of my favorite colors. ;-)

Hi Lauren!

I haven't had a chance to welcome you and Marley to LL. I'm glad to see he's starting to like the 5.5u dose although his liver wasn't too excited about it! :-D

I saw you changed from the OT Ultra. I use a OT Ultra Mini and have found it to be a really nice little meter. But you have to be comfortable with the one you use. I hope you like the Confirm.

Thanks for the welcome! I do really like the Confirm. It takes less blood, so Marley likes it better too. My favorite is the Alphatrak 2, but the strips are just too expensive for this kind of frequent testing. I'm stressing out this morning because Marley's AMPS was high, and I didn't get a bedtime test last night because I didn't feel well, and I went to bed early, so I'm not sure what is going on. I need to start a new post for today.

What you're seeing is a bounce. The blue was great! Marley's liver and pancreas had a "WTF!" reaction, though. When a cat drops into low numbers or into a number range they haven't been spending much time in or even if there's simply a fast drop in numbers, it can fool the liver and pancreas into reacting as those it's a legitimate hypoglycemic episode. As a result, a stored form of glucose and counterregulatory hormones are released causing the rise in numbers. A bounce can take up to 72 hours to clear. The more time Marley spends in better numbers, the less these bounces should occur.
