Gracie is having a lovely birthday morning on the catio, all stretched out in her favorite condo tray, enjoying the morning....happy and purry!! I always like to tell the story of how she came to us. Our sweet kitty, Sitka, had crossed 7 months earlier at 21 years of age. I had no intention of getting another kitty.....still heartbroken over Sitka. But the Scottish Fold community is close and a friend of mine told me that a breeder we knew in Canada had some adorable kittens and I thought I'd just take a peek. I mean who doesn't love to look at kitten pictures. This is the picture I saw:
I was a goner...it was love at first sight. I called the breeder. He said "sorry....she is promised to another breeder because she is of highest quality and the other breeder wants her to produce show kittens". I said "but no....we are meant to be together; you'll see". I hounded him with emails and my friends emailed him and said "that kitten is Marje's!!!"   Out of the blue, he called me. He said that when he took the litter to the vet, the vet noticed that Gracie's jaw was off by a teeny tiny hair. In fact, the breeder had not noticed it and the vet hadn't noticed it on the first visit. And because her jaw was not absolutely perfect, he would not sell her for breeding. He said he had a long list of people waiting for a brown tabby female but he was convinced we were meant to be together. I picked her up in Canada on October 31, 2006; she was 13 weeks old and weighed one pound....a tiny girl. She stole my heart in a way I cannot explain. And her Daddy's, too, as soon as he saw her. We had to have the perfect name for her. Her parents' names are Annie and Jimmy and so we named her Kinross AJ's Amazing Grace. (Kinross is the cattery). And she has been our amazing little brown girl every single second with all her silly antics, funny expressions, and sassy ways.
We are sending our most heartfelt prayers and healing vines for Jupiter today.
