Good morning LL,

I hope she doesn't drop this morning because I've a work meeting and Ill be leaving at +1.

Have a wonderful day.

Re: 7/25 Enana AMPS 100 Dental tomorrow

Surf real nice Enana, so mum's can go to her meeting.

Sending good dental vines for tomorrow.

Re: 7/25 Enana AMPS 100 Dental tomorrow

Hi Natalia, good luck with the dental tomorrow. I know yesterday you had questions about when to stop feeding. I hope you had some answers. I went by what my Vet said, but they all have differing opinions now on the eating and when to withhold. Nice AMPS this morning for Enana.

Re: 7/25 Enana AMPS 100 Dental tomorrow

Enana, now you behave and please do not worry your bean today while she is at work. Good luck tomorrow and please update as soon as you hear how the dental goes.

Re: 7/25 Enana AMPS 100 +1/202 Dental tomorrow

the dreaded carrier, OH NO Enana!
Hoping for an easy good dental and not too stressful for Enana

Re: 7/25 Enana AMPS 100 +1/202 +2.5/128 Dental Moved duh!

So Enana can avoid the carrier a bit more then. :) Have a good work meeting.

Re: 7/25 Enana AMPS 100 +2.5/128 +3/112 +4/89 Response from

I just received his response to the questions I sent yesterday.

1. How much food with the insulin are you recommending? I feed her about 1.5 oz right after shooting her at 7:30 am.
2. Are you giving her glucose during the procedure?
3. When do they typically discharge the kitties?

"It will be OK to leave water in the bowl until you get up Tuesday morning, about 1/4 of the normal amount of food with the insulin early Tuesday morning. Typically do not give glucose with the anesthesia. The cats are usually ready to be released in a couple of hours and can be back on their food and water that afternoon. If your cat is a stabilized diabetic, without other complications, being off food/water for a few hours should not be that big of a problem. See you tomorrow and will try to answer anything else of concern."

Whatdayallthink?

Moved the dental to Wednesday due to that meeting tomorrow.

Good luck on the dental tomorrow! She will do great and you can go to your meeting then! I have no idea on your question. Tarragon hasn't had a dental yet, but will in the next couple of months.

Have a great day!

Good luck w/ the dental, Wed. now right? No advice on the dental as Tess hasn't needed one since dx. She had to have them yearly before that, but getting off dry food and brushing her teeth has really helped. Starting to brush is daunting, but not too bad once they get used to it.

The good thing about your vet here is that he specializes in the dentistry. Sounds like Enana is in good hands and will do well.

I'll be thinking about you guys tomorrow.

And make sure to post any updates.

hugs,
tena

Beautiful cycle for Enana today! No knowledge on dentals, so I'm not of much use there! Hope tomorrow's meeting and Wednesday's dental both go well!!

Hi Natalia,
Things have changed quite a bit with the way Vets do dentals. I didn't give Maggie a shot the morning of the dental. Maggie didn't have food after midnight but did have water available. That all sounds okay to me, except I wonder if he means the full dose shot or a token. How long did he say to withhold food?

Re: 7/25 Enana AMPS 100 +2.5/128 +3/112 +4/89 Response from

Yes, full shot. 1/4 of the food I usually give her. Water is ok.

I'm going to trust him as he has been doing this since forever. Hope everything goes ok.

Hey Natalia--We have had a lot of dentals here in our house--Guess the no eating after midnight is over & new techniques are being done--My only suggestion is ask vet NOT to give her Covenia (a shot that lasts 2 weeks) as an antibiotic(it has been dangerous for some cats) Clavamox is the AB most of us get for dentals.

And if she needs any extractions, ask for the buprenex as pain relief--Get the one you put inside the cheek, it works well & not any danger like the Metacam for pain (which has also been a danger for some cats)..
Will be sending the Most easy dental vibes to Enana, and calming ones to you!
Most cats do very well from the dentals--Dont worry we will take care of you!!
Big Hugs from us!

Hi Natalia, yes I just read above where he is experienced in dentistry, so I would trust him. Good luck and we'll all be here for you and Enana.

Nice cycle today.

I'm glad you got in touch with the vet...sounds good. Maybe you could ask if he could monitor her BG during the dental just to be sure it doesn't drop? I don't know...just wondering??

Good luck with it on Wed.

Are you soon having to go BACK TO SCHOOL???? Say it ain't so!!!
