Happy Monday everyone!!

Sorry for being missing so much, but between this shoulder and a bad modem, I haven't been online much the last couple days.

I'm only getting an intermittent internet signal and AT&T wants $100 to send me a new modem. We have new cable that's been run through here which is a lot faster than AT&T offers (1Gig versus max of 6MB on AT&T) but they can't get me hooked up for awhile so I'm stuck either paying for a new modem or doing without until I can get hooked up with the cable

Miss China's doing fantastic though!! At least I can smile about that!!

Unfortunately, she's gained weight and she was already "too fluffy" so I'm asking for some ideas.

Is there a low calorie, low carb food (preferably pate)?? Something that will "fill her up" without getting extra calories? I'm already adding as much water as she'll accept in the Fancy Feast she gets.

Appreciate any ideas you might have!

Beautiful cycle that Miss China had. Bummer about the cost of the modem, I would think they would send for free if you continue with them........:banghead:

About the low carb, low calorie food. I don't know the answer to that but I was wondering if you were giving her the right amount of food to maintain the weight you feel is best for her. Just a thought..... Bubba is 17.4 lbs (which is a great weight for him) and he was getting 304.9 calories a day which was 3 1/3 cans of FF Classics a day.

i would think that cutting back on the food and supplementing a little more pure protein would help....

and of course, get her moving....
if she likes strings.... tie one on your belt loop and walk around the house.... good way to clean....
they just can't stand watching that string travel all over the place without jumping it and that would
keep you from having to use your shoulder....

I agree on the cutting back on quantities a bit. How many of the Nature's Variety Chicken medallions are you feeding per day when you feed that food? Neko (and civie Theo) do fine on 5 medallions a day. Course they are in the 13 lb range. Neko's vet doesn't want her losing any more. For older, less active cats, you usually dial back the portions a little. Around 250 calories works for them. The Nature's Variety on-line food calculator would have me feed 6.5 medallions or 318 calories.

Best of luck with getting a working internet solution. How frustrating!

Nice numbers for China. I hope your shoulder gets better soon. Sorry no suggestions on the food. How frustrating on the internet.

She only gets 1 medallion twice a day and about 1 1/2-2 cans of Fancy Feast split up over the rest of the day....that's why I don't see how she continues to gain but she's gained over a pound in the last about 3 months

I would consider adding some plain chicken instead of some of the cat food. Another suggestion that I haven't seen here in a long time, but do remember from ages ago, is that some people added chopped green beans to the cat food to "dilute" it. Green beans are about 7% carbs. They'd have fewer calories than meat or cat food. I've seen them suggested for constipation too.

Do you have a frozen shoulder? I went through that - it took nearly a year for it to go away. I saw a chiropractor for several months then switched to a physical therapist. She was a lot of help.

Good luck with your shoulder and the internet. I'd wondered where you were. That's gotta be frustrating.

hmmm....would you just use canned green beans or would you have to cook fresh? I can't see her eating raw fresh beans (even though they are in season right now!)

I guess if I used canned they'd also need to be low sodium?

She's not hot on chicken meat anymore....she used to love it, but lately she doesn't seem to want to "chew" (probably due to the lack of teeth left in her mouth!) I wonder how many calories are in baby food chicken? With it being only meat and water, maybe a little would work?

I'm desperate at this point

According to the label, Gerber's chicken has 100 calories per can and the turkey and ham flavors have 80 each. If feeding them, don't forget she's not getting any taurine, so you might need to add some.

Awesome numbers today. Harvey was in the lagoon with her earlier, but he stayed on shore tonight. Hopefully they'll get together tomorrow.

Sending healing vines for that shoulder.
