fell asleep earlier than usual, didn't wake in the middle of the night, so the helping of food in the cupboard went un-served -- and we get THIS for the morning value :(

test/feed/shoot went as usual, Catcat was a little less feisty this morning, curled now on his fleece quilt blinking slowly at me

he won't be happy with me in a little bit, I notice his chin is "dirty" today, so I'll break out the Cetaphil and see if I can clean the "blackheads" off, follow with the chlorhexidine and maybe benzoyl peroxide later

some sites mention using retinoids, and we do have some Retin-A unopened (didn't work for actinic keratoses), will wait and see what vet says about that

hope you guys enjoyed the Christmas wrasse picture -- I always look for those when I go snorkeling

I hope Catcat doesn't mind his facial too much :bighug: and hope you have a great day!
Loved the Christmas fishie picture! I had a chance to go snorkeling back in Feb but chickened out and stayed on the boat and took pictures of the snorkelers instead!

Tell me what ends up working on Catcat’s skin because I could use some beauty tips. Lol.

Alice often has lower AMPS values because there is a longer feeding gap while I sleep. But Catcat isn’t on Vetsulin anymore and so you may find he sails those few hours quite alright. This is one of those know thy cat things. I know if Alice hasn’t eaten in 4 or more hours, her BGLs are going to be lower than if she ate even two hours ago, typically. So knowing that she will get a nice big breakfast makes it easier for me to shoot those lower numbers. :)

Bring it on down, Catcat. Bring it down.......

I didn't know you actually see those snorkeling! SO cool! Best with the facial. Hope #s get better for you today :)

well, original Cetaphil is great for dissolving skin oil (sebum) -- don't know if you can use it where cat can lick it, but it rinses clean quite easily, best stuff I've found to use on my face or in the shower, body oil (etc) is gone without irritating skin -- and the vet sent us home with gauze squares wet with chlorhexidine which is a skin cleaner/disinfectant/antiseptic rinse .. may be what they swab on skin prior to surgery

benzoyl peroxide causes dead skin cells to flake off -- useful if those are blocking the pores on the chin and causing the skin oil to oxidize and block the pores as well

oh goodie, we have to have our front lawn dug up -- septic pump burned out, replaced yesterday but the drainfield pipes are clogged, must have those blown out before we can turn pump on, or the new one will burn out too -- so we will host a backhoe tomorrow evening or Monday -- dog will be overjoyed to have something happening, Catcat will probably sit on the stairs to the loft and watch -- more $$ for home repairs, less $$ for food and cat care

RE the septic: UGH what a PAIN!!!

I hadnt heard of even treating feline acne... cool!

Catcat is working to slide down today! keep it up Catcat :D

one can only hope -- instead of more canned cat food, he's getting home stewed chicken thighs for lunch

about as no carb as I can get, unless I cook him some eggs

our local meat market shows they sell "pet food" which appears to be all meat -- I may get some and see how it goes -- of course will need to add the supplements

humph! something scared Catcat off the beach I guess -- anybody spot a crab?

I know we clipped your claws, Catcat, but you CAN come down out of that tree by yourself .. or were you trying upstage Luci?

(at least looks like no pj party for us tonight, with a start like that -- will wax the surfboard, try again tomorrow)

maybe he is one of those who has a dip around +10 or +11 (or about PMPS time) ... saw this a couple of times on Vetsulin as well; though I think his actual nadir is earlier in the cycle -- still it's hard to tell .. not too easy to test hims without supplying food which influences the following test

Candy, I still have no real clue when Alice’s nadirs are. Honestly. There are the standard times to look for them and of course kitty will change up whatever they do again, keep you guessing, keep you on your toes.

I would be interested in finding a way to maybe test how much the food influences him. You know how for humans they do fasting glucose tests? Where you drink the weird sugar drink and everything? So maybe a super modified version of that. Then maybe you would be able to figure out how exactly the food influences each test?

Just rambling thoughts.

good idea, I've been trying to analyze that a bit too -- I don't do fasting with Catcat, except for the morning PS test .. he would destroy the house if not fed !

in the morning he tries, claws the blanket, the sheets, the box spring, the cabinets, the stacks of books ...

I would have thought that feeding him stewed chicken would barely affect BG, but it appears that it does, maybe it's the fat content

does appear that there is food influence even two hours after he eats, though by three, I think it's pretty much gone
