@Sue and Luci
I'm glad you both asked Ravan to keep the blues com'in! Haven't seen this much Blue for a while.
It would be so nice if he didn't do his famous BIG bounce later.
Thank you both! :)
If he doesn't go too low, he shouldn't bounce so high. Lantus will eventually help Ravan have slower rolls on the coaster...like going from the mountains to the lowlands...the hills should become less steep, the up/downs not as exaggerated...but sometimes it takes cats a while for the liver and pancreas to get the message that they don't need to offload all that glucose at once...there's no danger here...but try telling those organs that! Ha!:facepalm: Not going to listen until they're good and ready...it'll happen..you'll start to see more blues...less of those really high numbers...but it sure does take time...remember his little body is working to figure out how to get some of those healthy beta cells to grow back in where they need to be... a lot going on in there... We hoomans don't even get the chance to do that! Once you have diabetes - you've got it for life - cats aren't like that - lucky little things - they can actually get better and go into remission from diabetes!:eek: Who knew???:eek:

@Sue and Luci
I already bought a Levemir pen. I want to see if the Levemir will even out the big bounces.
Now you're making me wonder if i should of stayed with lantus?
Some folks have really good luck with Levimer...we'll be watching to see if it helps Ravan slow those rolls up/down to lower ones...give it a try...that's a good insulin too.
You may find this interesting reading: https://www.diabeteshealth.com/lantus-and-levemir-whats-the-difference/
(of course, keep in mind they're talking about the effects on hoomans, not kitties)...I chuckled when I read the part about drinking alcohol...right...doubt that your Ravan is having a cocktail in the evening!:rolleyes:

Most to the point is the comment about Levemir being a slow acting insulin...

@Sue and Luci

Wendy told me to do 70% of the dose I'm doing on Lantus. 70% 0f 1.25 That's .8750 & I'm not sure how I'd do that? Do you know anyone using Levemir?
I think @Olive & Paula uses Levemir - you may want to use 'Edit Title' change your title to have the ? mark in it and put that on like this:
? 7/24 Ravan AMPS ### - ANYONE USING LEVEMIR? That way people can see that you're looking for others using Levemir - best way to catch their attention

@JoyBee&Ravan .

I do use levemir. You would start at 70% of current dose. To get that dose you would need to use calipers to measure. You could do .75 units. I don't think doing 1 to start is good but don't be surprised if you get to where you are now.

I read you are hoping it will level out the bouncing. For some cats it does and the nadir is also later than +6 so you will be shooting lower numbers. I actually think she is doing well on lantus.

That being said it's not true for all. Look at Olive's sheet. She still bounces from fast drops +3 or +4. Her nadirs are still +5-7. Remember she has Acromegaly so the rules and patterns are anything but typical.

I completely understand that... I have a good feeling tho!!
