Yesterday's Condo

Furry purry boy this morning, with lots of pets as the bean worked at home today. The kitters are presently snuggled up together snoozing next to me on the sofa. All is well.

I've been ordering my cat food online for several months now, so I was quite shocked to go into my local Petco last night and learn that Merrick has discontinued the BG line. :shock: :evil: :evil: :evil: :evil: :evil: Not happy! I did go ahead and get a few cans of the replacement food. We'll see where his BG is tonight. I can order another case of the BG if needed, I'd just prefer to wait until our two subscribe/save cases come from Amazon next week. Will be checking expiration dates and may stock up on even more. The cats DEFINITELY liked the new stuff better, which just makes me suspicious..... What are other folks using as alternative low phosphorous/low carb options? We may have to go to egg whites for Willie instead.

It doesn't seem that they have discontinued anything, but have added a new line (Purrfect Bistro). It may simply be the store that has decided not to keep the Before Grain line in stock.
Many of us like Weruva "Paw Lickin' Chicken"--low carbs, low fat, high protein, low phos. Dr. Lisa gives this formula a 196 for phos. Check out their website, which gives the "as fed" values of all their foods: http://www.weruva.com/cat-cuisine-paw-lickin-chicken.php

We struggle trying for both LC and Low Phos too. I've got a tab on Tess's SS w/ all the foods I found in Dr. Lisa's list. We feed Nature's Variety raw for at least half Tess's food. The Chicken, Beef, Lamb, Venison and Organic Chicken are all really good. I'vefound the best value is the chubs.
Try :

• Avoderm Chicken …9% carbs 196 mg phos/100kcal
  EVO 95% Chicken and Turkey …2% carbs 155 mg phos/100kcal
  Pinnacle Chicken & Oceanfish …5% carbs 175 mg phos/100kcal
  Wellness Core Beef, Venison & Lamb …95% carbs 171 mg phos/100kcal

BG also used to have it's own website, but it has since been taken down. :cry: :cry: :cry:

The cats love, love LOVE the new stuff. We may be headed back to Evo once the BG is no longer available. They've been chowing down like nobody's business today... and even got some Blue Wilderness Duck too!
