7/24 Simon PMPS 324 Back from vet

Simon had a restful night and ate most of his food overnight. I gave him half the normal dose of insulin this morning and he is getting ready to go to the vet. They will be doing the dental this morning and giving plenty of time to observe after it is finished. I plan on picking him up about 6:30 today. I wish I could just sit at the vet's office all day but I guess it will help to keep me busy if I am at work. Poor Simon -- one look at his carrier and he starts crying.

I will update when I can. Thanks for all your well wishes, prayers and healing vines. They mean so much to me.

Sending more prayers for Simon that he feels peaceful at the vet and the procedure is successful. Hope the day goes super fast for you

We are back from vet. It has been a very long day. Simon was supposed to have dental this morning but due to some issues at the vet, he didn't have it until 1:00. He had to have 3 teeth pulled but everything went well during the surgery. He is home and is still extremely wobbly, especially his back legs. He is also ravenous and wants to eat a ton of food. I am only giving him a little at a time in case he has any nausea. I guess he is still pretty doped up on pain meds since his teeth are not bothering him at all. He is on Clavamox and will start on bupe in the AM.

Thanks for all the well wishes. I will be monitoring him closely tonight. Tomorrow I will be home until about 1:00 when I have to go help decorate for my mom's wedding on Saturday. We also have a dinner tomorrow night. DH says he will stay home if Simon looks like he needs supervision. Saturday, I have a pet sitter coming in to check on Simon and administer insulin because I will be gone for about 5 hours. I am worried about leaving him, but what can I do -- it is not every day that my mom gets married! She re-connected with a childhood friend and they fell in love. My dad died 11 years ago so it is nice she will have companionship and love again.
 
Great news that Simon's dental is over and went well. :-D :-D He will be fine while you're gone. Best wishes for DM and her beau. :-D

congrats to your mom - that's a sweet story.

so glad Simon is on the road to recovery - hungry is a good sign! hopefully he'll be mostly back to normal by tomorrow.
 
I'm glad the dental went well and Simon is on the road to recovery. I know they say not to feed them the first night, but my Harvey always is starving. I find giving small amounts at intervals works well and lets you keep an eye out for nausea. Do you have baby food for him, or are you just watering down his regular moist food?

Glad to hear Simon's dental went well and he's back at home with you again!

Hopefully he'll do so well that you won't have to worry about him while you're out decorating. That's such a great story!
