Somewhat stressful morning. Shasta started the "drag the hiney across the carpet" thing. Did a small cleaning of her hiney...she didn't appreciate, as expected. Then at +1, trimmed her nails. The past year or so, she's been fairly cooperative when I trim her nails...not so much today. Could possibly be due to the trauma of the hiney cleaning...or, it may be due to her feeling more like herself now that her BG is better.

Oh well. Back to 1u today. Hopefully, her numbers will be good today and nothing too low. I'm trying to figure out how I'll be able to get to my conference at the end of this week. I have already decided I will have to drive back and forth so that I can give her her injections, but I'm mostly worried about her BG curve and me not being around for her. Teachers go back to work next week, anyways, so we've got to get this under control!! Keeping my fingers crossed.

Hi guys .. sorry to hear about your stressful morning .. twix our civvie goes mad insane when we try to trim her nails so I sympathize with you .. as far as the butt dragging, could she possibly have an anal gland issue? I hope you guys have a great day!

It had been a while since she pitched such a fit over getting her nails trimmed. I wasn't expecting it, but I should have known it was coming after her cleaning! As for her rear end, it is an anal gland issue. She's had issues in the past with swollen anal sacs and I was worried that it would happen again with switching her to wet food. I hate taking her to the vet because she stresses so much (which will absolutely mess with her BG #s), but if it doesn't get any better, I may have to do so tomorrow. Silly kitty!

Thank you, Jane! She's very grumpy with me right now. So hopefully, she'll have good numbers to make her feel better today!!! :smile:

If she's in discomfort because of the anal glands, getting them expressed might help her BG. Work that juice, Shasta!

I'm keeping my eye on her today watching for any discomfort. So far, she has...wait for it...napped! :smile: In fact, she's asleep on my leg right now...wish this could last forever!
I wish I could express her anal sacs myself (less stress than the vet)...but definitely not a one person job! Will keep everyone updated.

I know what you mean about the bounces, but it looks like she's already clearing it. I hope her hiney is feelin' better so you can avoid a vetty visit!

Hi Deborah!

The good thing is she is clearing the bounces pretty quickly. In fact, I'd get a +2 tonight because she's not showing a food spike with that +1. She's at somewhat similar numbers to last night on a bit higher of a dose; not sure if her depot has filled with that new dose but she bears watching tonight.

Well I don't blame her about being grouchy.....bottom cleaning and mani/pedi all in one day! cat(2)_steam cat(2)_steam cat(2)_steam

Her +2 was 209. I don't know how that makes sense to me seeing as she's barely touched her dinner. :sad:

She's a little stiff from the hiney cleaning this morning, but has been very interested in attacking my hand all day...gee, I wonder why!

I will need advice for the coming days. I'm supposed to be in Orlando for a Conference Thursday, Friday and Saturday (1 1/2 hour drive time). I have decided to not stay over (for obvious reasons) and will be driving back and forth each day/night. I will be on time for her morning shots, but I will most likely be late (by several hours on Thursday and I'm not sure about Friday...Olympic opening ceremony - might have to come home early!) What is the suggestion for injections?

+4.5 = 71

Will take a +5, just to be on the safe side and will give her a midnight snack of LC wet to last her the night...hopefully! :smile:
 
Wow, what a drop from +2 to +3. We use little bowls to feed the kitties. We use the 5 meal PetSafe feeder but I also put out some food in a bowl and cover it with a plastic lid. Then he has food that he can eat any time, not just when the feeder has it available. The funny thing is Zener will push the lid out of the way but Tillie (civie) won't.

I just ordered the Petsafe 5 and cannot wait to get it! Besides my conference this weekend, teachers in my county start back next week...so I'll be back to poopy hours! Thanks for the feeding advice, Liz! I figured that I would need to leave some accessible food (other than the Petsafe) as "just in case" food...this should be interesting! I have a feeling I will come home to a chewed up plastic lid and all of her food intact! :lol:

+5 = 74 Snack of 2% put down for my slumber time!
