Day 3 of the OTJ trial and I think it's going well. I'm trying not to ask questions that nobody can answer bur Johnny's pancreas can answer and the "what time is it? we should get a test!" urge is occuring less frequently.

It's kind of appropriate that Johnny would step across into the blues this a.m. It rained like CRAZY last night. Reports are between 3 and 7 inches. Thunder/lightning along with the hardest downpour for hours and hours late and through the overnight hours. I kept waking up thinking that the streets must be totally flooded and wanting to get up and see, but was too tired, lol. Johnny and Katie aren't afraid of storms, but I kept waking up, so it's likely they did too. Poor Fritz is a nervous storm boy and spent the night in his "safe" place. Watch out for worms today, Chicago...

Re: 7/24 Johnny AMBG 100 - OTJ Trial, Day 3

Thanks, everyone! We found out that the total rainfall was around 8 inches last night. WOW!

PMBG was 117. I'm hoping these numbers are all indications that Johnny's pancreas is ready to work full-time. After a couple months off from work, I'd need some leeway during re-entry. And, yes, I guess I did just compare myself to a pancreas, lol.

Maggie is quite a "looker"! :) Congrats on being steps away from the finish line! Enjoy!!

I know the Alpha meter runs a bit higher (and maybe more accurate for animals, right?)...but I'm wondering if the finish line for a human meter (we use Relion Micro) is mostly paved with greens. Johnny's heading into Day 4 and I'm just curious as to what we're looking for to signal possible success. Way to go with your girl!

Hi Janice & Johnny,
You asked this question on my condo yesterday, and I wanted to answer on your condo so that others can take a look at your Trial. Your ss is looking looking really great! Yes, the Alpha Trak does run higher. I've been using the Relion Micro meter these last few times , along with the Alpha Trak meter, just because most here use a human meter.
And with the Relion Micro meter I can see Maggie's pretty greens! It reassures me that Maggie's numbers are okay, as the Alpha Trak reads much higher than the human meter.

I'm not sure if the finish line for a human meter has to be paved with greens. It's a good question to ask here, and I'm sure some will join in and advise. I can pm someone to answer your question. Good luck today with Trial Day 4. Johnny is a very handsome boy!

Ann asked if I could answer your question about "greens." Basically, you're looking to see that Johnny's numbers are in the normal range -- below 120. Just like with humans, there's going to be variation. You shouldn't take one test and break open a bottle of champagne or become depressed. It's the overall picture. Also, just like with people, Johnny will have a general baseline. For some kitties it's a little higher or lower than others. There have been some cats whose numbers run in the 40s, some in the 70s, and some around 100.
