Happy Sunday Kit and Mikan!

Wow, Mikan! What an action packed day yesterday was! Great work!!

Hope you got some rest last night Kit!:bighug:
Hi Deb!

I can't believe she pulled 44 at +4.5! Here we go again - I thought I was off the hook for a few hours when I saw 219 at +2
But I'm not complaining! Just gotta get her stabilized!

What you're seeing is a bounce then a response to a depot that's still full from yesterday. Do not reduce again. Hopefully the numbers will settle down by this evening and the "extra" that's left in the depot from the previous dose will be gone.

I see. Makes sense. I was so perplexed by this sharp V shape curve today!
I will stay on the current dose of 3.25U and hopefully she can steady herself to show BGs that make better sense

Thanks for the information, Sienne! :)

The 44 likely triggered another bounce. Just an observation.... A 100 point drop between your pre-shot and +2 is a "heads' up" -- at least for me it is. Typically, numbers rise after pre-shot because the insulin from the previous cycle is wearing off, Lantus onset for most cats doesn't start until around +2, and you've fed your cat. If you look at your spreadsheet, Mika's +2 is usually higher than the pre-shot number. If this were my cat and I saw a drop at +2, I would have tested at +3. If numbers were still dropping, I'd have given some low carb food to see if it would slow the drop and leveled off the numbers. Again, I like having data so I would have tested at +3.5 to make sure the food was leveling off the numbers.

The reason this can be important is that you want Mikan to get used to being in lower range numbers. The flatter the cycle, the better. Dropping into the 40s is likely to cause a bounce. It's not that bounces are a bad thing, it's just better to have Mikan spend as much time as possible in those green numbers.

I see, It all makes sense now.
I have to remember to look at not just a number, but the trend. Still working on it.
I totally understand that Mikan's body needs to get used the green numbers. I would very much like to see that as well.
I'll be more vigilant at +2! There are days I need to go before +3, then I'll make sure to feed her LC food if I see a big drop from the PS number.
Thanks for the kind advice. This is really helpful!
