Also, 2 days in a row I have found poop directly in front of one of the litter boxes

its like Gordy is hanging out the box too much. (And its definitely him

Solid poop isn't hard to clean up.

Nah, no diarrhea (thankfully!). Old fashion poops. Its more of an annoyance. Last time it was a tiny thing... but this time was almost his whole #2.
