Hi LL alumni.............

Davidson is still doing well, coming in with low weekly numbers and being out most of the time enjoying our summer days he seems to steal Harley's food when it's there...........he's up a bit of weight and I'm aware of it and cutting back on his food (the two of them with a combined weight of 28 lbs) only share 5 cans of FFeast daily, not much. They eat 5 times per day, half can each so I'm giving Davidson a bit less and playing with him more - could be he's a bit lazy during the summer heat and most likely wants the air conditioning on high - he's not getting his way as Harley gets cold..............His tooth healed fine and no signs of any issues other then he limps now and then and maybe at 12.5 he's getting some age related ailments. Could also be from wrestling Harley and running around at night playing tag but as long as he still jumping up on dressers, beds and window ledges he's fine.

I see many of you are still on here and most are having consistent numbers.........keep up the testing!! We're all sending positive thoughts your way and just wanted to say HELLO!

Davidson's SS has been updated and we'll update again next month.

Enjoy the summer!

Morning, Shawna and Davidson ~O)

I'm so glad to hear that Davidson is doing well. Yes, you definitely have to manage his weight, which, thankfully, isn't hard to do. Thank you for the kind words of support. Yes, Blackie and I are still here. Please keep in touch, and it was very nice to see you here again. :-D

Hi guys .. nice update for davidson! I know some cats who suffer from arthritis on here take some meds to help the pain but can't think of it offhand myself .. Maybe someone can lead you in the right direction .. Looking forward to the next update!

arthritis is pretty common. At one point i read a comment that most cats over age 7 show some signs of it.

There's a progression of meds that can help - Cosequin is an oral glucosamine/chondritin type of pill that you can buy via Amazon or at pet stores. That is also good if there are bladder issues, it can strengthen the lining of the bladder. The next level up is Adequan (injection with insulin syringes), available from vets or online, but i think it needs a prescription everywhere. Barbara/Tuffy had said that the equine version is better for cats that the canine version. I don't know what version the vet sold me, but if you bought it online you could choose.

We used both for punkin - i didn't see a change with cosequin, but did think the adequan helped.

the strongest med is Dausequin. I don't know much about it. There are people here who have used it, though.

great to hear from you guys! i share Davidson's ss regularly as an example of the transition that happens when you shoot low. thanks for being brave and doing it when the opportunity arose! :-D Glad to hear Davidson is continuing to do well!

Glad to hear Davidson is still doing great! Lazy summer days are just what the doctor ordered. We should all spend more time napping in sunbeams, don't you think?

Bummer Davidson is limping. Another thing we are trying for joint support is hyaluronic acid ( Hyaflex ). I have only been trying it for a few days now, so I can't say if it's working or not. I believe Wendy & Neko are tyring it, too. Buster is currently on Cosequin, Adequan and HA, plus I'm trying acupuncture to see if that helps. He is in the beginning stages of arthritis, so it's pretty mild, but I don't want to get behind the 8 ball. Buster is about 15 and has started stiffening up in the last year or so. I hope you find something easy that works. Good luck!

Hi Shawna, Harley & Davidson, I'm quite new at the board but I must say wow! I'm impressed with your ss, that's what we are all aiming for :)

As for arthritis and hyaluronic acid, I haven't try on my Bruno, but I try it myself :-D I have knee problems, and had surgery one year ago. And I get injections of Hyaluronic acid every year on both my knees and it helps!

Congratulations on the good work to get your sugar baby OTJ.

I'm glad Davidson is doing so well. I hope the limping is nothing serious. Good luck with the weight management.

So nice to see you guys Shawna :-D Hopefully Davidson's limping is just a muscle strain from the horseplay. He's in good hands though no matter what it is! As for the increased weight, I'm battling that with ALL my kits right now and they have only been getting 2 cans/day each, and naturally they are convinced that I am starving them to death
Enjoy your summer and please give scritches to the crew from us cat_pet_icon
