3rd cycle on 12.5 units. 9th cycle since the last green nadir. I love it when he breaks a bounce during the day. The initial drop is a lot slower, but he tends to pick up speed toward the middle of the cycle, so the next check will be at +6. I'm stuck at home today anyway because I'm on call. If 12.5 units doesn't do the trick, the next increase will be to 13.

I think he might've had some neuropathy. Though I never noticed signs of it, I started him on 750 mcg methylcobalamin BID 3 weeks ago, hoping to help prevent anemia since his H&H have declined with each CBC. When I take the testing supplies to the couch and call him, he usually comes but sits there on the floor staring at me until I nudge him or pick him up. In the past week, he has started jumping up on the couch much more readily. (I got pet stairs a few months ago but he hardly ever uses them.) He doesn't whine as much as he used to when I'm preparing his food, though he still jumps for the bowl before it's halfway to the ground. No change noted other than that.

That's rather fast for B-12 to work, but great if that is all it took. A lot of acros get arthritis, so some mobility issues are to be expected. Less starving is good too!

+6 might've been a food spike. Chino's BG is 153 at +9. If this continues until PMPS, there's a chance I'll need to get a PM +1 tonight... though there's also a chance I'll need to give R at +4 to dampen a bounce. Or he could have a flat blue cycle just to prove me wrong. I often feel like I'm scratching a very expensive lottery ticket when I get that PM +2 to see if he's going to go up or down.

Despite the blue nadir during the AM cycle, he's heading down again instead of bouncing! :) 6/23 was the last time he had a blue PMPS and didn't bounce.

PMPS = 173 (3rd meal LC 3%)
[4th cycle on 12.5 units Lantus]
+2 = 136
+4 = 78 (4th meal LC 3% + 1 tsp HC 20% gravy)

The +4 meal usually slows him down, but since he's already this low, I gave a little HC gravy just in case it doesn't. Staying up for a +5.

+5 = 60 (2.5 tsp HC, mostly gravy)

What he got at +4 slowed the rate by half, so double the gravy should slow him down by at least half again, keeping him at or above 50 by +6... so I'm staying up for a +6. If it's 60 or above at that time, I'll give more HC, set my alarm for +8, and go to bed. Otherwise: lather, rinse, repeat...

Setting my alarm for a +8 and going to bed. Hopefully he'll stay in the high greens/low blues for the rest of the night.
