A lot of you already know that we lost our cat Abbey a few days ago... and I am heartbroken to say the least. I hadn't even finished mourning Doodle...
Abbey had kidney disease for several years and 2 weeks ago they found cancer in her urethra and two other fast growing tumors- that we never even had a chance to identify. Her little body just couldn't take any more and we helped her pass on Tuesday morning.
She was a wonderful friend... and I will miss her.

Abbey - 7/1996 - 7/19/2011 -

Angel, on the other hand, has been doing so well that I chose not to give her a shot Tuesday morning so that I wouldn't have to worry about her while we were driving Abbey to the bereavement center for her cremation. She hasn't had a shot since then -- and she seems to be doing great.
I would of course love to see her in the 60-70 range... but I'm a bit of a micro-manager I've been told... so I'm trying to keep my yap shut and let her do what she needs to do.
She is on day 4 now and I'm not sure how often I should test her - but I can't imagine I'm missing any big spikes.
I'll try to post daily from here on out so that she can have something resembling a proper countdown.

I know this is an odd post of both happy and sad news but I wanted to post the sad so that everyone would know what's been going on. That being said,I'd like to focus on the happy. Angel deserves that... and Abbey was ALL about living in the moment - so I can think of no better way to honor my beautiful girl.

Angel -

We are so sorry about your sweet and gentle Abbey. But it was best to let her go...you showed her the absolute best love.

And congrats on Angel. Looking at her SS, I don't think you jumped the gun. She was getting .05u and still churning out green! Good luck!!!

Beautifully spoken.

We will be happy with you - for Angel and to honor your Abbey. ((((Michelle)))
Congratulations on day 4 (?) of the OTJ trial.

Quick ... take some photos! I'll be waiting... :-D
I'll send more info in a PM.

I'm so sorry to hear about Abbey, but you loved her so much you know you did the best thing for her.

How wonderful for Angel though. I think she is truly living up to her name.

Abbey and Doodle remain in your heart. They are together at the Bridge and one day, you will all be reunited. Angel is in your head -- she has your attention. Our kitties pick us for a reason and maybe, just maybe Angel "knew" you would need her right now just as much as she needs you.

As far as testing, here's your official copy of the LL OTJ instructions:
  • Test at your normal AMPS and PMPS times. Feed multiple small meals throughout the day as much as possible (small meals are less likely to overwhelm a newly functioning pancreas).
  • If she is green at your normal test times, no need to test further until the next "PS" time, just feed small meals and go about your day. If she is blue, feed a small meal and test again after about 3 hours. If his number is lower 3-4 hours after a meal, then her pancreas is working!

Sometimes the trial doesn't work the first time and we have to give a little more support in the form of resuming insulin. It's not the end of the world if that happens, we just give him the support she needs. Our goal is a strong remission and it's better to take our time to get that than to rush into remission just to have it fail later on.

So sorry for your loss. Fly Free Sweet Abby>>>>>>>>>>> rb_icon <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<

Great news about Angel. Stay green for your Momma Bean

And especially thanks for the official instructions Sienne :) - I feel better having them. It's crazy...after years of daily posts, I'm like a total newbie to all of this!

PM no PS = 90 :) (and she just ate about an hour ago)

Abbey is flying free, healthy and fine, and having a reunion with Doodle. We are very sorry for your loss, but you gave her a wonderful life and a compassionate passing.

Angel looks good. Fingers and paws crossed!!
