Alice is starting Day 6 of her OTJ trial. 55 this AM. Hasn't had a shot since last Wednesday morning! dancing_cat

Don't know where we would be without the FDMB ... what a godsend you are, all you wonderful people! :YMHUG:

So Alice was 53 at noon (+5). I've been wanting to test her earlier (usually test around 1 PM) because I had a suspicion that her nadir was closer to 12 than 1 PM. I just fed all the guys their midday meal, so I'm sure Alice will go up for a while ... but ... 53 just seems so low? What would a *normal* cat's numbers be at +5?

Edited to add: I've got 8 other cats in the house ... I guess I could test one or more of them to get my answer! :lol:

From someone who not only tested their civies but actually ran a curve on a couple. They don't have a nadir. Just rise slightly after eating then drop right back down. Same with Maxwell no real "curve "

Which makes sense when you understand the biology. The cat eats, their digestion breaks the food into glucose to fuel their body. The increased glucose triggers the pancreas to produce insulin that is the key that opens the cells so they can absorb the glucose.

Go Alice! And yes, non-diabetics or diet controlled kitties can go that low on their own.

This is good to know. Thanks for the reassurance ladies! Seems like Alice just wants to stay in the 50s today!

Edited to add: Ah, well, spoke too soon about the 50s ... PM +2 was 79. :cool:

Btw Maxwell whose been OTJ for almost 4 years runs been 50-70 :-D
