Yesterday's cat fight

Yes, it's true. Our old man (who has trouble walking) got in a fight last night with a neighborhood cat. :-x :roll: Zener was quite pleased with himself too. :lol: He has a gouge on his forehead so off to the vet we went. She shaved the area and cleaned it out. It was a little bigger and went under the skin than we thought, so we were glad that we got the professional to look at it. We definitely want to avoid ABs. Zener was so tough that he didn't even squirm for the anal thermometer or for wound cleaning. The vet said to apply warm compresses for a few days. I imagine he will be a little sore for a few days. Let's hope that's all that happens. Otherwise, he's doing fine. Appy is good, BG is decent. He's napping on his pad in the living room.

Wow, quite the night you had.... :shock: I so love those battle wounds. it is good that you had to cleaned out properly. Been though so many of those types of things with cats over the years. Keep the area clean, warm compresses, and it should heal ok. Sometimes too I would use a little neosporin on the area, just as a precaution. I hope Zener will heal quickly.

Nice start this morning too. Bg's are decent. here's hoping for some blues, and that he heals quickly. Glad too to read from yesterday that the increase in the pain meds seem to be helping.

Sheesh! Wonder what the other cat looks like. Go get 'em Z-man! Hope he heals up quickly and it doesn't abcess. Where was Tillie in all the commotion? She would have rocked and socked that intruder, too I bet!

Thanks all for stopping in and checking on our warrior, and for the wound care instructions!

His forehead wound has a little lightning bolt look to it, so we're calling him "Harry Potter".

awwwww...Harry "Z" Potter! :-D :-D Can't wait to see him with his glasses! ;-) Glad he's doing ok today and his BGs are looking really nice tonight. Sending healing vines for his wound so that y'all can avoid ABs, but I do kind of like his lightning bolt scar! :lol: Happy Monday, Anne & Liz!
