    Good morning,

    Yesterday's condo

    Yesterday
    AMPS=270 (0.5u); +3=252; +6.5=200
    PMPS=241 (0.5u); +2=281; +5.5=220

    Today
    AMPS=241 (0.5u); +2=274; +6=297; +10.25=243
    PMPS=239 (0.5u); +2=256

    Lucy had a diarrhea overnight, but I thought it looked a little less watery.
    She ate 1/2 of her breakfast well with Cypro on board.
    It was so disappointing that I had to ruin her good mood by pilling her the morning meds.
    I will try to get her to eat some more before I leave for work.

    I should hear from my vet sometime today with the b/w results.
    I am anxious about whether she was able to speak with the u/s vet.
    I'd much prefer to have it done at the regular vet even if it costs more because the u/s vet has to come for Lucy only.
    I will be a much longer drive if I have to go to the specialist.

    Sending vines to all in need.

    Re: 7/21 Lucy AMPS=241;+2=274;+6=297 // Results Not Good

    The vet called with the results, and it's not good.

    Her protein values were not bad enough to cause fluid build-up, so the fluids in her abdomen is likely caused by cancer somewhere.
    The vet had the x-rays taken yesterday looked at by the radiologist who will also do her ultrasounds, and she saw some irregularity in her liver and a trace of fluids in her chest.
    The vet said there is a strong possibility that Lucy has cancer in either her liver or pancreas.
    The radiologist will be able to do an ultrasound for Lucy on Thursday 24th, but I have to take her to a different vet clinic where this vet will be at on that day, but is closer than the specialist and that's the soonest day I can get it done.
    The vet has sent Lucy's info to that clinic this morning, and I am waiting for a call from them to confirm the appointment time.
    My vet has explained to this different clinic that I would want to be present and be holding Lucy during ultrasound and they OK'd it.
    That was very kind of her to arrange that. She knows I always want to hold her head side, so they won't put a muzzle on her when she tries to bite.
    If the ultrasound confirms cancer, the vet doesn't think I will have a very long time left with her, and all I can do is to keep her as comfortable as possible.

    The results also indicate that she has mild anemia, but we didn't discuss if we are going to do anything about that.
    Everything else was Lucy's normal, no significant change from the last b/w.

    I am just heart-broken.

    Oh Mariko, I am also heart-broken to hear that Lucy might have cancer. You have been such an incredible mom to her, nursing her through every pain and suffering. Lucy still feels like living though, right? I don't think it's time to say good-bye. Sending you and Lucy compassionate, healing vines.

    Thank you all so very much for all the compassion, vines, prayers and hugs.

    The most amazing thing happened.
    I left work early today after receiving the devastating news from the vet because I didn't want to cry at work.
    I cried a bunch when I came home, but despite my sad feeling, Lucy has been in a wonderful mood this afternoon.
    I'd say she's in the best mood since she got sick.
    She's been very affectionate and talkative all afternoon.
    Every time I turned my back to her to get some work done, she gave me cute little meows, eyes wide open, and we had some nice cuddle.
    And around 4pm, she started asking for food. :shock:
    I know it's partly because of the Cypro I gave her this morning, but I had given her Cypro plenty of times in the past 3 weeks, and it had never worked this well.
    By 5pm, she really wanted to eat, and I didn't want to waste her appetite so I fed the 1st dinner early - about an hour early.
    She even ate the first few bites by herself!!! :shock:
    She wanted the rest finger-fed, but ate really well.
    She got her morning shot at 6:45am, and it's still a bit too early to give her the PM shot.
    I'm hoping the food won't spike her number too high she'd have a hard time coming down.

    I think she's showing me clearly how she'd like to deal with the situation.
    I think she's telling me she's not giving up.
    So I'm going to NOT lose hope, cancer or not.
    I'm going to do my very best to stay positive.
    I'm going to stop feeling as if I'm already losing her.

    She even kept her bum clean after two diarrhea today!
    No sitting or rubbing on poo.
    She is the most amazing girl. She loves me very much, and I love her so very much too.

    I'm sorry the news might be the awful C word.
    It would be nice if the vet turns out to be wrong.... ( like mine was about my girl)

    Prayers for the ultrasound to give you a clear picture.

    Rhiannon put it so perfectly that every day is precious. I'm so sorry that the news may not be good but Lucy is alive now and having good days so don't even think beyond that. Take each day one at a time. She doesn't know that she is sick, if she is. Take the good days as gifts.

    When Tiffany had to stop chemo she lived for an additional 8 months, over a year after her diagnosis. I was told at my oncologist appointment that she had on average 9 months WITH chemo. She went into remission after six weeks and was gaining weight and feeling better. Chemo was stopped due to her kidneys but she still lived LONGER than the prognosis. So whether Lucy has the big C or not, nobody can tell you how much quality time she has. What I'm trying to say is to not get caught up in the diagnosis or any numbers thrown out at you. Let Lucy be the guide. And yes DON'T LOSE HOPE!! She isn't. :YMHUG:
