Re: 7/20 Jinx AMPS 441

I just spoke to my internist and she said to give it to tomorrow to see if he's able to work through this on his own. I did give him some of the buprenorphine but there's no way I can pill him with the ondansetron right now. I'll send out an update if things change.

Re: 7/20 Jinx AMPS 441; not eating

Maybe try some slightly warmed up baby food?

Sending feel better tummy vines to Jinx.

Re: 7/20 Jinx AMPS 441; not eating

I may try that, Dyana. He would not eat any of his regular food so I gave him about a tsp of his old dry Iams just to get something in his stomach but he threw it up.

Sending hugs and scritches. come on Jinxy, try just a little. You need fuds!

Re: 7/20 Jinx PMPS 390

Since you are experienced with giving insulin would your vet prescribe injectibles? Dolasetron (nausea - sister drug to ondansetron) and cerenia (vomiting)? Cerenia stings like crazy but may be an option.

How are things going with the pancreatitis group? Are you confident with his treatment and managing everything?

Sending Jinx healing and eating vines. He's really having a time of it with this pancreatitis. I hope the meds will help soon and he'll be back to his old self.

Re: 7/20 Jinx PMPS 390, +3.25 331

Thanks for all the well wishes everyone.

Karrie, I felt good about managing everything but this flare-up really threw me off. He did eat some of his food tonight after he got a shot of cerenia so I'm hoping that did the trick with the appetite and vomiting. Aside from injectibles being easier to administer than tablet form, is there any other reason/s you'd suggest doing it that way?

I brought him in to the vets tonight to get the shot of cerenia because the internist told me that it loses its efficacy as it's exposed to light. She said she could have sold me a vial of it but it would cost a couple hundred dollars and has a really short shelf life. So rather than bring home some pre-filled syringes, I brought him in to get the shot tonight and came back with four days worth of tablets. I'm also going to run this by the pancreatitis group but would really appreciate your thoughts as well.

Much better numbers be he really seems out of it tonight. Gave him some bupe about an hour ago so hopefully that will make him feel better. Also, very happy to report a negative test for ketones.
