Yesterday's Very Brief Condo

Back to good starting numbers for Willie... new juice + dosecrease = good times. I'm a little concerned we're going to get into a vicious cycle of .25u being too much, but .10u being too little... fingers crossed that the answers come to us! He's currently in BTB mode, curled up next to me getting face scritches.

Feliway is percolating in the car, making it a zone of pheremone love. Today is a busy day... getting my hair cut and trying to finish up the unpacking while I get us packed for Iowa. Willie gets his own suitcase... food, meds, toys, etc. also have to get the car cleaned out... some donation items to be dropped off today(or stashed in the garage, one of the two!). Gotta get the lawn mowed tonight or tomorrow am as we'll be gone for a week.

Hope everyone's (holiday for those of us in the US) weekend gets off to a great start!

Question: I see you have a leather chair and a cat. How do you keep kitty from messing up the chair?

LOL Willie doesn't have front claws. Will be an interesting dilemma if/when we get a new kitty. The faux leather ottoman in front of the sofa is completely torn up... Was Miss Belle's favorite scratching area.

Morning Christie, nice AMPS! I was the same way with Maggie, which dose, two drops too much and one not quite enough! I settled on the more conservative one drop dose for now. I love, love your new home, no wonder you are so excited. Enjoy your trip to Iowa and can't wait to meet the new adoptee? Hugs.

p.s. We keep a folded fleece blanket the same color as the couch on the seat of our leather couch, just to be careful. Rusty doesn't claw furniture in any event; Stu didn't have claws in front; Alice only clawed the back of our previous couch (when we got this one, she left it alone). We've used the fleece blanket for 16 years and the leather underneath looks brand new!!

Don't worry, Angela... with the laptop and wireless internet at my parents... we'll be in lantus land all week!! :-D :-D

Forgot to share the funniest part of our week!!! Turns out, Willie loves Bengay. Yes, Bengay. I had used some the other night at bedtime as my neck and shoulder were really bothering me... so I took some advil, put on the bengay and fell asleep. I was awakened a few hours later by Willie, who was standing on my chest, sniffing and licking my neck!! Ooohhh.... u smellz sooooo minty..... maybe just a little taste.... hmm, not so good.... I sniff sum more..... maybe u taste gud now??? no.... but u smellz so gud..... Wash, rinse, repeat.

This boy.

Morning nap is over, and now he's just laying on the bedroom floor, clearly contemplating today's shenanigans. Gotta get up and get to unpacking!!

:lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: on the bengay - I too had a civvie once that LOVED the stuff - we had to be so careful - she would literally hunt us down whenever we used it. I can so relate to this...

Your home is lovely - very relaxed, nice home feel. Nicely decorated - how wonderful it all must feel.

Willie is getting to be quite the traveling kitty! I am impressed with how well he does with it, and your ability to make it all work. Well done! Enjoy Iowa!

It is so great to see numbers like these! GO WILLIE! And good luck with the dosing... One reads so much everywhere about how one dose is too much, the other too little, and where is the happy medium. No doubt that you will find it. :-D :cool:

Great numbers for Willie!! Beautiful house Christie! Congratulations again! Where are you headed to in Iowa? I am from Des Moines (a little town outside of there) and all my family is still there. We are headed up in Aug for our annual trek for the state fair. Hope you have a great day!

We're headed to the southeastern tip of the state... the v in the lower right hand corner of the rectangle. Though there may be a DM area detour for Trader Joe's (one opening here July 15th! Woo!) and curtains I can't find here at Bed Bath and Beyond. What little town is your family from? If you're heading through KC, throw me a wave!! :-D :-D :-D

I am from Woodward, IA. Woodward-Granger was the school. My family lives in Woodward, Madrid, Bondurant, and Jefferson. Have fun! I love it now that DM has a Trader Joes. Hopefully we will get one here eventually. The new Jordan Creek area there is pretty cool. I will definitely throw you a wave on our way through! That is the route we take. Have a great trip!

Willie's numbers are awesome!!

Love the pictures of your home. I think I have the exact same leather chair or at least one very similar looking. I have not had any problems with either of my kitties clawing the chair, but I know some people have lots of problems with that.

My civvie also loves bengay. It is the funniest thing to see how crazy she gets when she gets a whiff of it!

Just woke poor Willie with a chortle....

Okay, guys, I need some LL magic. I called the animal shelter, and while Ashes is still available, they will not let me pay in advance and pick her up after I return from my trip. There is just no way I can justify Willie meeting her during a 5 hour car ride in which he'll be howling like a fool. Plus, we'll be staying at my brothers for a bit, then likely at my mom's, so 2 different houses that aren't even her new home, another 5 hour return trip and a giant drooler to boot. I don't think that is fair to either of them.

What is also not helping (at least, at the moment!) is that the shelter is reducing/waiving fees for cat adoptions this month. No fee for cats over 5 months old, half fee for kittens. We need all the vibes we can get that Ashes will end up hanging out at the shelter one more week so she can make her furever home with us. So hit us with whatever you've got!!

My favorite pic is "Willie chillin' n the office"...he's just so darn cute! You're decorating is beautiful, but I have to admit, he's the first thing I saw when that picture loaded :-D !

Many vibes being sent for Ashes. I can't believe the shelter won't let you pay in advance for her! If you don't pick her up (which would never happen), they've still got your cash! Still, I'm confident that she will be with you and Willie when you return!

Currently came up with a great idea for traveling with FD supplies or even for storing your hypo kit so well-meaning family members don't accidentally carb load your kitty!

Years ago, a friend gave me a wine picnic set... It holds one bottle, two plastic glasses, napkins, a stopper and a corkscrew. I happened upon it while unpacking today, and realized it would be quite useful:


Flap folds over to seal everything in (and there's a couple more pockets):


Then it zips up and is ready to go!


A little pricey on Amazon, but it really is pretty perfect.

Plus, a friend gave me a USB mini fridge that I'll be able to plug into my car jack (I have a USB adapter to charge my phone) to keep his insulin cold. We're set!!

hope that little ashes is there when you return! can't believe they wouldn't hold her for you for a week. that's crazy. i might go up the food chain to see if i could work out a deal with a bigger fish if i really wanted her.
