Hi everyone,
Sorry for not making contact for a few days. I know I sound like a broken record, repeating myself over and over again, but the summer time is always so busy for me already with Kitty Karma Refuge, and now with Rocky having pneumonia it adds an extra layer of work to my already burdened schedule.
I apologize for the careless subject line in my last condo. Jeesh, I didn't realize that I had typed, "Rocky Stopped Mouth Breathing-Eating." I mean, I didn't realize that it looked like he wasn't eating at all!! ohmygod_smile
He is eating on his own again, but he is being a bit picky and not eating as much, just yet. His nose is SUPER stuffy, I can hear him breathing. I tried not using the vaporizer last night but it seemed to make him more congested by this morning so we have it going again in his room.
Also, last night, this was a FIRST for me and Rocky, he barfed up one of the HUGEST hairballs I have ever seen in my life!!! :shock: It was about the size of one of those large Tootsie Rolls. It definitely wasn't poop. It was fur, I cleaned it up. Unfortunately all of the food he had just eaten came up with it. However, most fortunately, he still wanted to eat 3 more mini-meals that night.
So, I have been taking his BG through all of this and there are pages, and pages of handwritten numbers that I need to input into his SS. I keep saying, "maybe tonight" and then my inaction disappoints me so I'm not going to say that this time.
I *think* he has turned a corner for the better. It feels like he has turned a corner for the better, but it's only been like 3 days on the medicine so he's got a ways to go before he's fully healed.
His BG numbers were looking pretty good, and then it seemed like all of a sudden he was at 496 on the 1.75u dose and I didn't like that for fear of a DKA episode with the lung infection. I boosted his dose to a (f)1.75u. ( nailbite_smile I did test him for ketones when he was at 496 and thank goodness he was negative-- WHEW!)
It seems I might also *finally* be recovering from something that has been making me sick for many months now. MY doctor has me on levofloxacin for the sinus infection from hell that just won't go away. I think I may have had this sinusitis for over three months as above my eyes got really super swollen and all of my face was hot and tender to the touch. I already took one full course of Azithromicin and it didn't help at all. I was instructed to use Afrin once a day for 5 to 7 days and then to use my Flonase shortly after that. I was using a Neti pot and it wasn't helping me to heal at all. I told my doctor and he said, "That's because your eyes are too impacted. The Neti pot won't help you right now."
Thanks again everyone for all of your warm wishes and prayers. I know that they are helping the both of us.
