Scully's numbers have been elevated the past few days, and no doubt giving an early dose Saturday night and a late dose Sunday morning contributed to all of those pinks and reds. Today she completed a nice slide down into the greens. Hooray! As Marje wisely recommended yesterday, I am being extra vigilant at this 1 unit dose. Tonight's 74 is the lowest preshot number we've had yet, so we're armed with our test strips and Gravy Lovers food and we're ready to see if we can encourage Scully to surf those greens! It also helps that we've been able to catch up on some sleep the last few nights (the silver-lining benefit of all those high BGs) and I have the next 4 days off work, thanks to the 4th of July holiday.

I'm really excited to report on Scully's vet visit yesterday. She now weighs 11.6 pounds, up from 9.8 at the time of her diagnosis. Doc said she looks great! I also printed Scully's spreadsheet for him, and he was really impressed with the way we've been managing her diabetes. He said we're doing a better job than most of his other diabetic patients (THANK YOU FDMB!!!) He also agreed that this 1 unit dose seems appropriate at this time, and to continue to carefully monitor her. They did a full geriatric blood panel to check her kidneys, liver, thyroid, everything. This morning they called to tell me that all of her results came back completely normal, except for her blood sugar, which was a bit elevated (she tested at 400 when we got home). I am soooo relieved! Plus they now have a baseline in case anything pops up in the future.

I've said it before, but it bears saying again -- THANK YOU SO MUCH to all of you who have given us advice, recommendations and encouragement throughout this difficult and often-frustrating process. And a special thanks to Marje, Julie, Wendy and Deb! We absolutely could not do this without you! Please know how much your help has meant and how appreciative we are! I'm sure we'll talk again soon!

Re: 7/2 Scully PMPS 74 +1 70

Look at Scully go!!    Surf safely tonight little one.

Great news on the labs. It's always a comfort to know there isn't something else brewing. :-D Nice on the weight gain, do you know what an ideal weight is for her?

Re: 7/2 Scully PMPS 74 +1 70 +2 52

Doc said 10 - 12 pounds is ideal, so she's right on target.

Just gave her a teaspoon of Gravy Lovers chicken to keep her BG from dropping any lower. Will retest in 20 minutes. Hoping to encourage a long green surf.

After 1 teaspoon of HC food, BG is slowly rising. Surf those greens, Scully!
