Odd #'s today. Bad day actually for me anyway. Sammy has been happily rolling around on the porch, sitting out and eating millers (ugh) and has been eating more canned food than ever. He is putting on some more weight too!

Hi Sue,

It's great to see that you're starting to get those spot checks in! I'm still not that experienced in dosage or analyzing spreadsheets but know enough to be concerned that he dropped down to 50's so early last night. Lantus generally sets in sometime between +5 and +7 so we don't know how far Sam dipped or if he stayed flat.

I know you're going through tough times and I'd really hate go through even more if Samwise hypos, especially if it could've been prevented by monitoring his nadir. Depending on how far he drops below 50, you may have to test him as much as every 15-30 minutes until he starts getting his number up. Not fun. Getting those evening spot checks now is a much better option. Plus dose increases and decreases is based on nadir.

If nadirs are hard for you to capture, maybe consider moving his shot time/feeding time earlier so that you can get those afternoon and evening spot checks in at a reasonable hour.

I can't imagine what you're going through on crutches and just hope that you don't ever have to face a hypo cat, especially while you're on crutches!
