I'm back again, this time with what I hesitate to call an OTJ trial. Since his latest bout of CP, Salem has been doing better than ever. Not sure if his numbers the last several days are because I switched meters or if Mr. P just decided he's ready, or possibly the teensy bit of insulin I was giving was putting him in a sort of micro-rebound pattern. (Is that even possible?) My rule was no shot under 80, and after two skipped shots I decided to give this a whirl.

The 93 has me a little worried. Not that my expectations are all that high since Salem has been on injected insulin for 3 1/2 years, but still. At what point do people decide a trial has failed? I'll see if he's come down a bit at his usual spot-check and snack.

Morning Camille

I can't offer much of an opinion on trial - seems like maybe it is worth a shot. Good luck! Hopefully someone more in the know you chime on in. Wishing you good luck!

So far, this looks good. I consider a trial as having failed if there are several days of numbers above 120 and it looks like the numbers are creeping up. Remember to feed several, small meals and to be patient. Sometimes, you'll get a few numbers, especially at the beginning, that are above 120.

Thanks, Michelle! :)

Thank you so much, Sienne - that's very reassuring. He has come down pretty nicely since am. Thanks for the advice about meals - I'm giving two meals with two snacks during am cycle and one during pm cycle, but I can spread out the food a little more and give another pm snack.

If he does throw you a higher than expected number, give him a small amount of food and test 2 - 3 hours later. If his pancreas kicks in, it will cause the numbers to come down.
