Good Saturday Morning, Everyone,

It is a gorgeous summer day here. Rusty wanted to go outside after breakfast, so we did the "tour" of the perimeter of the house and Shadow came over to greet Rusty (he was greeted by Rusty with a low hiss!). Then they had their stand-off for about an hour. Shadow would approach; Rusty would pointedly ignore him; Shadow would approach again, wanting Rusty to chase and play; Rusty would ignore him; and so on. Finally Rusty walked up to the door in stately fashion and waited to go in. Shadow wanted to come in, too. I can't imagine what would have happened if he had slipped into "RUSTY's HOUSE"!!

Rusty is green this morning and apparently has been surfing the high greens/low blues since yesterday afternoon. He enjoyed 2 sittings of breakfast (Wellness turkey), had good lb action, and is no doubt waiting to go out to encounter the Shadow again. We will be going to the farmers' market in a few minutes. Later today we plan to put 303 protectant on our canoes, but it's such a beautiful day, we may instead just go for a paddle (tomorrow is supposed to be stormy). On the 4th we're going to a picnic at our friends' camp, which is only accessible by canoe. This is an annual event. I hope the weather will be good on Monday. On Wednesday there is another party at a friend's camp on the St. Lawrence River (Thousand Islands), then a paddle--the "Route of the 7 Carries"--on Thursday. Lots of fun coming up this week!

Nice green for Rusty to start off the weekend. It looks like Rusty is playing a little hard to get for now. Keep trying Shadow! :lol: It sounds like some nice weather there for you. Enjoy the paddle and day.

What a week coming for you - it all sounds really great - I remember the trip from last year. I hope the weather stays good, and that all that should happen next/this week does. Well.... I think I'd opt for the paddle today... :-D enjoy , whatever you decide.

Too funny on the Rusty/Shadow encounter. One of these days... best buds! I too can only imagine what Rusty would have done and thought should Shadow entered "his house".... that would have been fun. :lol: :cool:

Rusty is looking great today! You should definitely go on the paddle and put the work off for tomorrow! Have a great time!

Very beautiful numbers for Rusty. I think Shadow wants to live with you!! And why not!!!!

Hi again,
We worked on the canoes. Edward didn't feel like paddling and the roads were crowded with tourists. It was a nice, relaxing day. We had local strawberries for dessert, preceded by a really good pizza made by a bakery near Lake Champlain and frozen and sent to our local health-food market (being from NY City, I'm a pizza snob and what passes for "pizza" up here is dreadful. These pizzas we can now get at the health-food market are very close to real NY City pizza!!).

Rusty decided to do a mini bounce from the nice string of numbers. He slept all afternoon. He feels the heat (in the sun it got up to 80 degrees today). He didn't even finish his dinner (but gobbled up the health-food-market canned chicken chunks at +9.5).

We are all 3 of us listening to the annual Louis Armstrong birthday broadcast on WKCR (Columbia University, via the Internet): a whole weekend of Louis Armstrong, who was actually born on the 4th of August but who believed for years that he was born on the 4th of July. So WKCR celebrates on both dates!

Lovely reports all around, Ella! Though, I feel bad for poor Shadow! Just trying to make a friend! Your 4th of July celebration sounds amazing! I'd actually love to canoe the Mississippi while I'm home... not only can I travel below the worlds largest double decker swing span bridge (plane can fly over a car, driving over a train, moving over a boat), but also can paddle Lock and Dam 19, which is one of the biggest drops on the river. Unfortunately, I'm not sure I know anyone with canoes!

Please paddle me along the river--AAAHHHHH!!! But no here as there the tourists unnerve the locals!
Oh well it's all ours fall winter & spring!! What a great community you live in, I have about 3 friends at this point--you are so lucky to have so many--Have a beautiful weekend my friends--
OH YES NY PIZZA!!! My DILs stop at the pizza place the minute they enter our town from the airport :lol: :lol: :lol: --Sillies, I make my own--Lubs & HUgs from us-

Good one, Celi! You should see Rusty while he is ignoring Shadow. But of course the first thing he does when he goes outside is look for Shadow!
