Good evening. I’m posting an update on Max and welcome any feedback. I took Max yesterday for repeat labs and follow up on high blood pressure from the NCSU visit earlier this month. His blood pressure is still high at 173. Basically same number at NCSU. He has been taking Amlodipine 1.25 mg and Enalapril 2.5 mg daily. His vet wants to consult with NCSU before altering the meds. Still waiting to hear back on that. His labs still show an increased BUN at 39, creatinine is 2.2 (upper limits of normal). He had a SDMA done this time which was 11.3, and the vet said he has early kidney disease. I’m sad to hear that. I lost a cat to kidney failure before and it broke my heart. I didn’t really know much about caring for a cat with kidney disease at the time. I’m feeding Max Weruva foods with low phosphorus, but alternate between Weruva and Instinct GF because of his IBD. Weruva will upset his tummy if he eats too much of that. What phosphorus level should I be feeding him now? Any recommendations for feeding a cat with diabetes, CKD, IBD and chronic pancreatitis? I’ve looked into making my own food/raw diet, but other than the grocery store, I don’t know where to purchase meat for making cat food? Any suggestions or recommendations? I’m doing my best with Max, but man is it hard to balance it all. I know I say that all the time, but I love my boy and I’d do anything for him. Please give me some opinions on his labs and suggestions. His labs are posted on his SS. Thanks so much.
