Hi Linda and Tobi-
Welcome to LantusLand! I saw that your condo (thread) accidentally landed in an old condo of Rupert's. Since I didn't want you to be missed, I started this new condo for you.
This is what you posted over in Rupert's condo:
I'm concerned that vet advised you to NOT do a PS. It can be dangerous to shoot insulin without knowing where the kitty's BG is to begin with. Additionally, you really do need to know how Tobi is responding to the insulin, so at least one mid-cycle test really should be done. You don't want him dropping too low and you not knowing it.
Additionally, Lantus really needs to be administered twice a day, 12 hours apart; otherwise, you're going to end up with BG numbers that are all over the place.
In general, the plan that your vet has you on just sounds odd.....
Have you had a chance to read all the starred stickies at the top of the forum? There is a lot of info, and it can be very overwhelming at first, but LantusLand is a very special place; the people here are very generous with their time, knowledge, and support. Please ask as many questions as you need, and surely someone will always know the answer!

Advised by vet 7/18 pm for next 3 days 7/20,7/21,7/22 do not do PS and give 1U in am only. Do curve on 7/22, do AMPS, 1 U, and then PS every 2 hours within 12 hour period. Will follow vet's instructions this time and re-evaluate 7/23/12.
