HAPPY FURSDAY TO ALL!!!

It's a beautiful, hot sunny day here and all is well. Kitties are napping, my to-do list is growing...same ol' same ol' ...

I had posed a question is yesterday's condo about increasing and not getting any feedback, decided to delay the increase. Hindsight and all that - wish I had gone ahead with it, but, "Live and (hopefully) Learn." He has seen blue 4/8 cycles on the 1u, but nowhere close to green. My hesitation is always that we're gone most of Sun AM cycle. But, if we increase tonight - we'll have 3 cycles that someone is planning to be home. The 4th cycle - we'll be here until +5, then home the whole next cycle. So, Sunday AM would be the 6th cycle on the increase and we'd be gone most...oh, wait...we'd be gone a little longer than usual (Having lunch with a friend coming in from TX. :-D )...so, maybe as late as +9 getting home...But, surely by the 6th cycle we'd know how he was doing...and, we could leave the auto-feeder to do a meal and a mini-meal...Yes, I talk to myself a lot :lol:

As long as I'm asking questions - Do any of y'all use Friskies Pate'? That's what Oreo eats, but I'm looking for something lower carb to leave in the auto-feeder in case I'm right and Hershey is eating his food PLUS Oreo's. At least it would let us know if his BG is elevated due to carbs or just the volume of food consumed. So, I'm wondering if y'all have found a lower carb food similiar to Friskies Pate' that we could try for Oreo. You know, the kitty who eats DRYER SHEETS, but wants to be finicky about food lately... :roll:

Hi guys .. well .. uh I have no answers .. for any of your questions :lol: But I will say good luck with the new dose when you do take it .. have fun at lunch with your friend from texas .. good luck on the ever growing list of chores (don't we all have those .. sigh .. ) And Hershey, how about dipping just a wee bit lower and soaking in some blues? have a great day!

I stand corrected. ;-) Hershey hit blue 5/8 cycles, still nowhere near green means increase, right?

With only about 5 wks Lev experience under my belt, I'm not feeling completely confident, but went with the increase...

Hi Libby,
That's 5 more weeks experience than I have, but the increase makes sense to me. Looking back, when Hershey has reacted to an increase, it usually happens before the 6th cycle I think. So you should know by Sunday what it's doing.

Have you looked at Suze's updated "Hobo's Guide" for low carb options? She's been updating numbers as she gets them. Unfortunately, no new data on Friskee's but there are some there that are updated and are less than 5% carbs.

Hi Libby, I just wanted to stop in and say hello. I'll leave the dosing to one of the helpers, as it sounds like the concern is when you're not there to test. On the food, I've never used the Friskies Pate. There is a Friskies Special Diet Turkey & Giblets that may be suitable for both. It's tasty and Mags ate it for a while, but with me watching her phosphorus levels, I had to detete it. You might give that a try. Have a nice night. We're starting to get the heat and humidity our way, ugh!

I think your decision to increase was right on target.

I can't help you with the Friskies. We're a Wellness family.

Hey, Carl - Thanks for the encouragement and for double-checking my reasoning. I did look at the Hobo's Guide and made note of a couple to try from that list and Binky's. I was hoping someone maybe had a cat that liked Friskies Pate' and ______, but that would be too easy. :lol: Yeah, I don't know why Purina isn't forthcoming with the information... :YMSIGH:

Hey, Ann - Good to see you. Thanks for the food suggestion, but I'm afraid the Special Diet is a no-go for Oreo. He absolutely refused to eat it no matter what we did. He scratched all around the bowl like he was covering something in the LB and walked away, not to be coaxed or dragged into returning. Had to return the unopened cans. :YMSIGH: I mean, we only have TWO cats - WHY would they eat the same food?! That would be just toooo simple! :lol: :roll: Sorry y'all are getting the humidity. It must be someone else's because we've still got ours!! ;-)

Hey, Sienne - Thanks for looking in on us and for confirmation of my thinking. I wish we were a Wellness family. But, Hershey eats Wellness and Oreo eats...dryer sheets. ;-) He likes the Friskies Pate' most of the time, but I'd love to find something he'd tolerate just for the auto-feeder. Going shopping Saturday after the wedding and will pick up a couple of cans of...something...Looks like a flavor or two of Merrick's might be worth a try and a couple of FF. Here's hoping...

Nothing exciting, so far. Of course, I can do without too much excitement...maturing heart and all that. ;-) With a new dose, we usually test +3, +6, +9. But, since we now feed at +5 - we did +3.5 and +5. Now, can't decide if I should do +8 or wait for +9...I'm leaning toward +8...

Bob loves Friskees, but I'm not as worried about the carbs as much as you have to be. Bob isn't/wasn't that carb sensitive. When he was on PZI, he ate mostly FF classics, but he also got about a half can of Friskees Pates a day (still does) and it never seemed to raise his numbers any more than the FF's did. The Turkey and Giblets is probably his favorite. I was concerned earlier this year when it seems they started adding rice to the recipe though. I'm pretty sure Mel feeds Friskees Pates to all her kitties, including the sugarcats. Maybe PM her?

Sorry, Libby. MommaOfMuse is her user name. She has a dozen kitties, and Autumn is her current sugarkitty, but they all eat the same diet.

Gotcha - thanks! I've met so many Melissa's and Melanie's...and it's hard for the maturing brain cells... :roll:
