Miss Trix is lookin' fine this morning...headed out to the lagoon early!

Bean is wiped... ~O) ~O) ~O) by th gallon is in order. Frankie's separation anxiety issues during the night are killing me....I'm not sure what to do about it, but something has to change. She scratches at our bedroom door. We get up, pet her for a minute, she calms down. Repeat randomly throughout the night. Some nights are worse than others. Getting up reinforces the behavior, but believe me, ignoring her is not an option...she'll scratch her way through the door! Oddly, she really just started this behavior shortly after Trix's diagnosis. We may have to kitty proof the bedroom and attempt letting them free-roam through the night. We always kept the door closed because we were afraid we'd squash them as kittens, plus with the LB issues - 3 have digestive sensitivies; two have long fur along with those sensitivities...you get the picture)...we just kept keeping the door closed. Big sigh...

Have a great day, everyone!

Amy

Hi Amy, so sorry about Frankie and the separation issues. Here's some ~O) ~O) ~O) to help. I wish I had some advice. Have you tried Rescue Remedy or something similar with Frankie? That sure is a nice green there for Trixie!

Re: 7/18 Trixie AMPS 147 +2.25 95

~O) ~O) ~O) Nice green already Trixie! I am so sorry about Frankie. I think you may be right and just have to open the door. You definitely need to get some sleep and it isn't happening now. Rescue remedy may help, but for some reason I thought you had tried that already. Hang in there! Have a great day Amy!

Re: 7/18 Trixie AMPS 147 +2.25 95

I haven't tried Rescue Remedy, but I'm always a little iffy on "medicating", especially as a long-term solution. We should've tried letting them in while we were on Staycation...lost opportunity there! I do think that once the novely wears off, they'll be fine in the bedroom with us. But, it's the only place I don't worry about where I toss my jewelry, and we have lamps plugged in (Petey chews on chords)....

Knowing that cats like to roam, especially at night, may as well give it a shot, or you will be sleeping through breakfast!! Lunch!! and maybe Dinner
Copper used to talk all night--I got ear plugs  --You are a wonderful bean, I know you will find a solution( earplugs? they work for cats & snoring  )
Beautiful start today--Have a great one-Hugs & love from us!

Morning - what a great start for Trixie today. love the green!

I am sorry for the separation anxiety with Frankie. I wish I had a solution for you. I know I'd end up letting them in, kitty proofing the bedroom..... not easy though. I wish you luck!

I will share my ~O) with you this morning though, have lots here! :-D here you go ----> ~O) ~O) ~O) Have a great day!

Re: 7/18 Trixie AMPS 147 +2.25 95

Great start for Trixie, although it looks like she's figured out a way to keep you from taking a nap!

Will Frankie quiet down if you leave music on? Sometimes even a recording you make and keep replaying may be reassuring. Does Frankie have a bed? If so, try leaving a smelly t-shirt there. Something with your scent may alleviate the anxiety. Of course, if Frankie is just being a cat and is annoyed at the door being shut, none of these suggestions may work.

Wow, Trix is already in the lagoon. Time to surf! Have you considered having an animal communicator talk to Frankie? Terri Sides talks to our kitties regularly. Tracy had her talk to Leo about his anxiety when riding in the car and he's much better now. Her web page is http://www.walkingheart.com/. I know Marje has used someone too. You need your sleep. It looks like Trix is still working on settling into this reducie. Patience pants are engaged.

Frankie (along with everyone else) does have beds all over the house, although she really as claimed one that is fairly close to the bedroom door (she sleeps there day and night). I hadn't thought about giving her a t-shirt...maybe that would work, but I have a feeling it just won't be the same as scratches and hugs! She's just so darned cute at 4:00am....

I also hadn't thought about using an AC, but to be honest, that thought makes me a little nervous...I'm kind of afraid to know what's going on in their fuzzy little heads! What if they hate us, or don't like eachother...I'd feel SO guilty.

Why does it always seem that the people who really don't care about their pets are the ones who get the maintenance-free furballs? I know, I know...we've all been given our special kitties because only we could care for them properly. I appreciate that confidence from higher up...but I need a good night's sleep once in a while  ! I'm done whining now....and I love my kitties, despite all their quirks and bugs.

Amy, are some of those, pm numbers, or am I just confused?
I'm thinking in terms of hanging something on the door, like a blanket, Frankie can bang or scratch on?

Nice day for Miss Trixie

Whoops...fixed it! See how tired I am  ??

Frankie already has a homemade scratching post right outside the bedroom door - she likes to scratch the trim, so DH build her a post out of the same wood. She loves it, and scratches it like crazy - and usually leaves the woodwork alone now. But, when she wants our attention, she goes at the door. And she is LOUD...and, of course, pitiful.

Every time Terri talks to Zener and Tillie they tell her how much they feel loved. I am absolutely certain that all of your gang will say the same thing. :-D I think Z & T appreciate our effort to communicate with them and that we try to address what they want. When I was going to Switzerland for 5 months in 2004, Zener was pretty upset. Terri told them where I was going and when I was coming back. They wanted beds and a bird feeder in the front window because they thought they would be bored since I played with them a lot. Zener also wanted me to say goodnight to him every night so we would have that connection. He settled right down after their conversation and he was fine while I was gone. He was still mad at me when I did get home but he forgave me after a couple of hours. I could go on and on about things they said during various sessions with Terri. It is always enlightening for us. And remember, I am an engineering professor of German descent.

poor poor poor frankie. living in such an abusive household! ;-) actually i would love to sleep with the kitters, but my allergist nearly had a fit when i said my cat slept on my pillow. so . . . we shut the door, but to be able to sleep, we have to close the kitters elsewhere. in this house, we shut them downstairs, which is huge, has a litterbox and plenty of things to keep them happy. in the morning they are waiting at the top of the stairs. punkin is fine with it, anya hates it. if she can get to our door, she scratches it like a crazy cat. we hang a robe on the doorknob, because she only scratches at the opening side of the door, but it doesn't really stop her. i've thought about putting up a childgate 2" outside the door, but have never done it. it's a problem, but i know what you mean about not wanting to be mean. we love our kitters.

btw, you cracked me up in zener's condo about scheduling by +7 and +8.25 . . .
