7/18: Nova--amps 187; +2.5 317--possible vet visit--what to ask for?

Looks like another dosecrease soon. Nova has been more vocal (not really loud vocal, just little muuurps), somewhat lovey lately (she's not the lovey cat normally), and more hungry than usual. Other than that...she seems to be OK other than her higher-than-I'd-like readings.

I've received notices from her vet that she is due for bloodwork & rabies vaccine, and as much as I was disappointed with her diabetes treatment, off-putting attitude concerning her FD, my home testing and non-reaction to curves I did at home, I think I should bring her in.

I think it was Wendy who mentioned a senior blood panel--and that is what I'm going to ask for, and also see when she she had her last rabies shot--I'd rather not do these every year. Any other things, other than a UTI check, that we should ask for in the test?

I'm not going to ask for directives re: FD, as they have already proven themselves insufficient in this area, but it has been 7 months...a month later than they wanted to see her after her last visit in January after Dx 10/31/19.

Some vets get rather persnickety about refilling a prescription if they've not seen your cat in a year. If you're getting your Lantus from Mark's, it won't be an issue since they keep the Rx on file. If you are setting up a vet visit, it won't hurt to ask for a prescription so they don't ask you to bring Nova in when you do need the Rx.

If Nove is older than 10yo, a senior panel is a good idea. I would make sure your vet sends the labs to IDEXX since they include an SDMA in the panel. (It's test that's predictive of kidney problems.) It also never hurts to have your vet take a look at Nova's teeth to make sure she doesn't need a dental.

Thank you!
