Good day everyone!

We started our day with a lovely AMPS of 164. That made me smile since she has not had a AMPS as low as that since day one when had a 134 and I freaked a bit. Needless to say, I am encouraged by a somewhat lower start to the day. It will be interesting to see where she goes today. she was more animated this AM as well and was using her scratching pad as I prepared her shot etc. She hadn't been doing much of that lately and she was also meowing a lot for food and head butting my ankles, another thing she was not inclined to do when her numbers were elevated more.

Sienne, I saw your last comment on yesterday's condo about the out of site out of mind triglycerides issue. I would love to just not deal with it and give Morgaine the lower carb, higher fat food she adores but the vet is adamant about getting those down and so I am giving it attention and trying to comply with her advice on that. I do believe Morgaine is not bothered by it all but her weight has always been an issue and I am sure it contributes to some insulin resistance so we are going to get off that last pound or 2. I also have spoken to Dr. Lisa about this and she agrees it needs to be addressed.

Very nice cycle today!!!

On our condo you wrote:
I am no expert on these doses and really do not yet understand it all, especially the string of green and how to deal with it but i can see how much work it is for you both

Gracie has the rep of being a little "different" in her responses. We've had to learn to fine tune her dosing (which alot of people have to do that with their kitties) and the dose I was giving her (chubby 1u) was a name I made up because it was in between 1 fat unit and a unit and I couldn't think of anything else to call it on her SS

Yesterday on Zener's condo, Jill said that manipulation of a curve with food was more an art than a science. In Gracie's case, it has become a definite "art" because she doesn't always react the same way to the same management. Having said that, Jill and others will tell you that ECID and any cat can change the way it reacts to food or change its nadir. Gracie usually does pretty well and stays pretty stable until her shed is overfull as it apparently was last night.....then it is a ton of work. I hope that Morgaine will always be nice and steady for you and give you classic lantus cycles like some of the other cats (Curry, Willie) give their beans.

Re: 7/18 Morgaine AMPS 164,+3 130

If I've mentioned this, I apologize, but a fish oil supplement can help cats with high TG levels. Use a product high in EPA/DHA and low in fillers. We personally use OmegaVia, but the Costco Kirkland ones are good as well and a bit more economical, especially if you're using them for Morgaine. Get the enteric coated ones as the EPA/DHA concentrations are higher (those are the contents that actually affect TGs, cholesterol, inflammation, etc.). You can just pop the pill with a pin and squirt it into Morgaine's food.

I know that fish oil had a tremendous impact on my cholesterol and triglycerides, so I'm a big believer!!

Good luck!

Marjorie, I know a lot about manipulating diet with insulin. I do it constantly for myself and of course can give myself insulin anytime with a pump.

I, too, hope Morgaine remains on a stable, steady curve. With 2 of us at this, I can pray for one of us to be consistent because God knows, I am not. I sometimes surprise myself and I do not believe I have a shed while only using humalog but sometimes my BG dives out of nowhere.

Christie, I do give Morgaine fish oil. I got her some Nordic fish oil for pets but next time I will buy the enteric coated, less expensive brand. Thanks for the suggestion.

ETA: Oh and we got 127 at +6. YAY!!!! First reading under 130 since we started Lantus!
