AMPS 193

Didn’t eat breakfast but he looks happy. Might be due to adventure on kitchen bench at +9 ish.

Just wanted to check that we’re shooting 1.75 units (dropping dosage was mentioned in previous thread).

Oh the scallywag... up on the bench. I can’t leave anything on the bench or Harry will get it.
Yes 1.75 U is correct. Nan and I were just saying we thought he would ask for a reduction soon (drop under 50 or 2.8).. but until then he needs to stay on 1.75.
You must be tired... can you have some naps?

Hi Bron, he’s a scallywag alright. Jumping on the bed was normally his limitation due to his dodgy hips but he must be feeling as good as new to make it as high as the bench (and back down again - he hates jumping down!). In my bleary-eyed state, I couldn’t work out why I left a dirty bowl on the bench. I’m still laughing.

Makes sense why we wouldn’t drop the dose until he asks :)

I’m terrible at napping but am handing testing over to Neil soon. Am hoping Koz has a lovely cruisy day like yesterday. He truly deserves it (and is benefiting - ie jumping!)

I would take a break for a couple of hours from testing. I’d leave testing until +3. If it hasn’t dropped too much then you might be able to leave it a couple of hours again.

Good morning!

Oof! Well, at least Kozmo is having fun with all this! It is really good that he's feeling better and jumping around :), wish he'd let you get a bit more sleep, though.

All that time he spent in green and low blue yesterday is excellent for his pancreas-- nice, healing numbers.

Kozmo is looking really good. Max would get very hungry when going low too. It’s really good when that happens if you need to feed to get the bg back up. I now have two young cats and one will eat anything so I can’t keep towels or clothes within her reach.

Oof. Stall any more and the lack of dinner is going to start to make an appearance.

I know you had a late night of interrupted sleep last night, so I'm hesitant to suggest shooting tonight in case history repeats, although you could if you were feeling up to it. As usual, I'm also hesitant to suggest skipping because of the DKA, but after three weeks and him doing so well, that may be your better option.

I would not skip if you can't get him to eat, though. If he keeps turning his nose up at food, how about a "half" dose of 1U?

You are still going to have to do some monitoring tonight, whatever you do. The depot still has a say in things.

He ate 10 pieces of Ziwi Peak Air Dried Chicken. It's dry food that's on the FDMB UK food list but is of course, not recommended if possible. It'll possibly spike his BG a bit. He didn't even want his favourite (fresh roast chicken out of the oven). We're convinced he got a taste of the bitter gabapentin and on that basis, we'll change the order to feed first then pill pocket from now on.

+1 130

Interested in food again. Ate LC wet dinner.

Not sure how to update my subject above now that it’s long?

You can delete some of the numbers, just keep the highlights from the morning cycle.

Glad he's eating! Probably just wanted to make sure you were paying attention, since he gave you such an easy afternoon ;).

The air dried ZiwiPeak isn't "dry" food. It's actually an alternative to a raw diet. Take a look at the ingredients. It is perfectly fine. It's similar to the Stella & Chewy's freeze dried raw and both are acceptable. For some cats that have trouble with the consistency of canned food or are dry food addicts, the ZiwiPeak may be a great option. The lamb variety is 3% carb and the chicken is 1%.

Thanks Sienne. That’s good to know.

Another nice surf! Kozmo is putting in some serious time in the green healing numbers!

I have to log off now; I'm sure Bron and others will be around if Kozmo decides to make things interesting tonight, but he sure looks good so far!

+7 67 snack
Looks like another PJ party ... sigh.
I wouldn’t like to suggest leaving him2 hours at this stage as he’s not going up at all with those snacks.... surfing beautifully but with the help of snacks. Do you have an auto feeder? And would he eat from it when it opened on his own?
Sheba used to race from the other side of the house the moment she heard the autofeeder turn over.

The auto feeder (his mini bar) is open all night and closes two hours prior to AMPS, but he’s not used to it yet. He knows it’s there though.

In the beginning I fed Sheba out of it for all her meals so she got to associate it with food. I also had it open each nominated hour so that she was aware there was new food there (she was very good motivated). Does your Autofeeder make a noise when it opens? Mine used to play a recording of me calling Sheba.

It sounds like shaking biscuits when it turns but it’s not flash enough to have recordings. .
