Last night we put the couch on top of cinder blocks so its up 8 inches higher then normal and looks ridiculous. Atleast I wont have to worry about Jupiter hurting his paw trying to inch under there and back out. I put a comforter over the couch and let it hang down to the floor so its dark under there so Jupiter will still feel like he has a safe place to hide when he comes home. I just want him to be as comfortable as possible.

Dane cancelled his hours with his client and hopefully they arent too upset about it. I have a kidney stone(again!) and a hard time dealing with it (in a ton of pain), he had to help me last night and this morning. I think once we take Jupiter to the vet we are going to try to come back and sleep for an hour or two... if I can sleep I will set a loud alarm to wake me every 20 mins to check my phone.

After I finally fell asleep... got about 30 minutes of sleep if that then he meowed in my face. He REALLY wants food... and he is chewing on anything and everything so I am staying awake with him to stop him from chewing on things.

We are leaving in about 45 minutes from now to take him. I am going to leave a small blanket with him in his carrier that has been on our bed for 2 days so it will smell like me and home, so hoping that makes him feel a little more comfortable. I am so worried about him and how bad his anxiety is. He is going to be really scared and I hate knowing that. I reallllly want him to be okay.

I am so nervous. So so nervous. I will keep updating this condo today to let you all know whats going on.

I am praying and hoping for a very easy and successful surgery. Please keep Jupiter in your thoughts and prayers today. I am just trying to think positive thoughts for him. I love him so much. I want him to feel all better.

Thank you all for your support. You are all so wonderful. Thank you all for the donations for the LLEF fundraiser for Jupiter. Because of your generosity, my baby boy is able to get surgery today - theres no way I can tell you thank you enough.

Thank you for the love and support you have all shown both Jupiter and I. We appreciate your thoughts, vines, prayers, & visits more then you know!

Sending a ton of vines for Jupiter.

You are so thoughtful. I'm sure Jupiter will appreciate the lengths you're going to to make sure coming home will be as reassuring and comfortable as possible. I'll be looking for your updates.

Re: 7/18 Jupiter AMBG/62 Jupe at vet for SURGERY TODAY!

Jupiter is at the vet now. They said they will call when he is done in surgery to let us know how it went. They said I probably wont be able to pick him up til 4pm-6pm. Thats a long long time! I am so nervous and cant wait for them to call to let me know it went okay.

Thank you all so much for the visits. I think its really going to help me get through today.

Re: 7/18 Jupiter AMBG/62 Jupe at vet for SURGERY TODAY!

{{Hugs}} I'll be thinking of you.

Because human sleep cycles are roughly 45 min long, you might want to nap for that much at a time. Its much, much harder to wake up in the middle of a sleep cycle and often disorienting. The confusion can make understanding anything from the vet more difficult.

... that is, if you actually fall sleep. I have a feeling you might be too stressed to do that.

Re: 7/18 Jupiter AMBG/62 Jupe at vet for SURGERY TODAY!

Morning! ~O) I send any positive good healing vines for Jupiter today. I hope the surgery goes well, I am sure it will. I look forward to your updates.

Re: 7/18 Jupiter AMBG/62 Jupe at vet for SURGERY TODAY!

Hey just got a call from the vet so wanted to give everyone an update...

She said his BG before surgery was 191.

THE SURGERY IS DONE AND HE IS AWAKE NOW!!!!!!!!!

She said I can pick him up in 2 hours but no food til about 5pm which is 7 hours from now.

She said his leg will be wrapped because she had a hard time closing the incision. She said he has to go back in a few days to get it wrapped again.

She said the biopsy results they usually get within 1 week

She said if its benign they can use a laser to help it heal and close some but she cant use that if its malignant so we have to wait to see the results of the biopsy first.

I think that might be everything..... I cant remember now

Re: 7/18 Jupiter AMBG/62 surgery today! - UPDATE!!!

Thank you for the update, ((Jamie))!

Re: 7/18 Jupiter AMBG/62 surgery today! - UPDATE!!!

Great news!! Now you don't have to be chewing for fingernalls all day!!

You might want to go easy on the food even after waiting. I'd ask the vet if you can give Jupiter some baby food or something that's easy to digest every hour until his dinner time. Anesthesia slows down the gut. If you're holding all food until dinner time, chances are he'll inhale his food and throw up.

Re: 7/18 Jupiter AMBG/62 surgery today! - UPDATE!!!

Well, that was quick! So happy you'll be able to bring him home much earlier than you'd been told yesterday.

I'm guessing Jupe will be sleepy for most of the day. And I'm sure he'll get sent home with instructions to give pain meds. Ask the vet about "Bupe" (I can't spell or pronounce the full name of the med). But it's given orally with a med syringe - not a pill - and everyone who has used it always says it's really easy to administer. Glad they are going to wrap it too, so the litter box won't be a huge issue. He may need help getting to it though.

Give him a huge hug from me and my boys!

Carl

I second the above - maybe give 1 teaspoon about ever 15 minutes to slow him down and preven scarf 'n' barf.

Re: 7/18 Jupiter AMBG/62 surgery today! - UPDATE!!!

Oh I'm so happy to hear this!! We are all sending many fast healing and recovery vines for Juoe. What great news that it all went well and he's awake and coming home soon.

Jamie...I would push for the bupe. Tell her Jupiter did not have a good rxn to the tramadol. The bupe is easier to give and none of my cats have ever had side effects. Keep in mind that vets sometimes go a little heavy on the dosing so if you use the dose she gives you, he might sleep alot but you can try one dose and if he does, back it off.

I would also ask if he will need an Elizabethan collar to keep him from messing with the foot. My guess is he will. If they have the softer collars, those are better than the hard plastic ones for cats.

Be sure and ask what you need it watch for, do you need to unwrap and clean and rewrap, etc. does he need to be sequestered so he limits activity...you know...just general care questions.

Big hugs! You are so brave!

Re: 7/18 Jupiter AMBG/62 surgery today! - UPDATE!!!

Hi Jamie. What a great report. So glad for Jupiter, you and Dane the surgery is over. I'd bet he's going to love his new man cave you made for him under the sofa. I'm sure having a nice comfy place of his own to retreat to at will is going to help lessen his recovery time. You guys did a great job. Have a great day Jamie.

Re: 7/18 Jupiter AMBG/62 surgery today! - UPDATE!!!

Yeah! Jupiter is out of surgery early and can come home sooner! That must be such a relief to you Jamie. I know how worried you were about Jupiter having to stay at the vets so long.

Is the KTSS squad ready to kick into action and get those vetty smells off Jupiter when he gets home.

Sending many healing and calming vines to both Jupiter and Jamie.

Re: 7/18 Jupiter AMBG/62 surgery today! - UPDATE!!!

Re: 7/18 Jupiter AMBG/62 surgery today! Jupiter is home!!

Hey everyone Jupiter is home now they have his foot wrapped up. He has to go back on Tuesday the 23rd so the vet can change the wrapping on his foot. This week is going to be hard waiting for the biopsy results but I am just so so happy that he is home now and the surgery is over. Thank you all so much for the visits and support.

He is very happy to be home but seems uneasy about his leg being wrapped. Told him it has to be like this a few days so it doesnt get infected - cause we want it to feel all better for him. We got him a collar thing incase he tries to chew at it but I already warned him not to chew at it because I know he wont like wearing that collar.

I really hope he heals fast and without pain. thank you all so much for the vines, thoughts, and prayers!
