I hope it goes smoothly Hillary!
I’ll increase tonight. I do have gabapentin, but I couldn’t get him to take it. I’ll have to ask for the liquid kind.Meanwhile, take his dose up. It doesn't take long for glucose toxicity to set in.
Do you have gabapentin? Maybe a little will help calm him when you take him to the vet?
Thank you! We’re dropping him off in about a half an hour…hopefully they can get to him quickly since he gets so stressed at the vet.I hope it goes smoothly Hillary!
Do you have a pill pocket or can you wrap it in cheese if he likes it?I’ll increase tonight. I do have gabapentin, but I couldn’t get him to take it. I’ll have to ask for the liquid kind.
I only have the capsules, so I tried to open one and mix it with tuna for him, but he took one lick and walked away.Do you have a pill pocket or can you wrap it in cheese if he likes it?
What if you were to mix it in a teaspoon of food he likes? Even if the food is MC...I only have the capsules, so I tried to open one and mix it with tuna for him, but he took one lick and walked away.
Shoot, I didn’t see this time! This is a good idea though. He’s at the vet now, and they’re going to look at his teeth and do a urinalysis. I assume maybe bloodwork too, but I’ll have to double check when they call about the sedation. What if you were to mix it in a teaspoon of food he likes? Even if the food is MC...

Well that's good news but also frustrating! It would be great to have something to work on. They probably should do bloodwork while he's sedated -- so that you don't have to drag him back in again anytime soon. The vet actually said they don’t see any signs of infection. No UTI, and no signs of infection in the mouth (other than some gingivitis, which they are recommending a rinse for). They said he was 117 when they tested him after sedation, which they said could drop BG, but not usually that much (he did have his insulin this morning too). I’m glad I took him in, but not really any answers at the same time. He had just had blood work last month, which all looked good, so they said they didn’t see any need for it again today.

Hopefully so! I ordered from Mark’s so it probably won’t be here for a little while (I think they’re still running behind), but the sooner the better!Maybe the whole thing will be fixed when you start him on the fresh insulin![]()

yah they better be quick about it! Hope George feels better in meantime.

Make sense.I ended up giving him 0.75 units one more time tonight because he’s still pretty out of it from the sedation, so I wasn’t sure how much he’d let me test him tonight. I’ll take him up to 1.0 in the morning though.
