Simon doesn't want to come down from the yellows lately so after 5 days of s.75 dose, I increased to a f.75 this morning. He is on his 6th day of zymox steroid ear drops. I hope the little increase is ok to do. His appetite is not as good either. He keeps refusing to eat his +8 food that opens in the automatic feeder overnight. He used to love the Wellness but now he is turning his nose up at it. He did finish off Cleo's FF so I know that it must be the Wellness that is causing him not to eat. I'll give him Friskies or FF today. It is funny how they will love some type of food, I go buy a bunch of that food, and then they refuse to eat it.

Cleo is doing really well after her first day of fluids. She felt good all day yesterday and ate fairly well. She is lying next to me right now and purring up a storm. Tonight is going to be the real test. My DH and I are going to give her the fluids for the first time. My DH made a little table in one of our guest rooms that folds up and down for her to sit on while we give her the fluids. He attached a hook next to it for the fluid bag and I'll put a nice comfy blanket on it. She has inspected the table and approves. I'll get a picture of her on it when I can. I am very nervous about this whole thing but as Claudia told me, the cats can sense if we are nervous so I need to stay calm. I plan on meditating just before the fluid session and will play soothing music during our first attempt and will talk to her quietly. Hope that helps. I'll update after we give the fluids which will be sometime this evening. I want to set up a routine at night because in the morning, we are both so frantic trying to get out the door for work.

Have a wonderful Sunday and thanks again to all of your help with this CRF thing. And big hugs to Claudia, Marje, and Karrie!

Hope that little increase gets Simon back to blue/green, which may help with appetite too. Never had
any success with feeders here... it was regarded with deep suspicion, like it was a trap or something.

And of course.. buy a bunch of food (like when it's on sale) it's guaranteed it will fall out of favour grr_red .
My wife says to never mention it was on sale in front of them

Great that Cleo responded well, and good luck tonight (you'll do fine  )

It sounds like exactly like Maggie! I wonder if they are conniving on their fuds! Good luck with the fattened dose. I am so glad to hear the fluids are helping Cleo feel better and good luck today. You and DH will do great, and what a great help with the meditation and soft music. I look forwarding to hearing about it. Have a wonderful day.

Re: 7/17 Georgia's Simon AMPS 236

Morning guys!

Sorry for the yellow - I hope he will come down for you today. I think the dose increase will be good - it should help Simon get back to Simon numbers while he is on the drops. Good luck!

and so true on the fuds! Mannie will eat almost anything anytime - but the other two? no way.... One of them has to have a fresh can everything she eats - omg!

Good luck too with giving Cleo her fluids tonight. You have a nice plan, I am sure it will go well. You're used to needles, etc - you'll do fine. Nice too that Cleo has had a chance to check out her spot, and approves. That has got to be a great help - she will be relaxed there. I look forward to your update, and the photos!

have a great day guys!

Come on down Simon and lets eat better for you Bean Ok

And you will do fine on the fluids it just takes practice it was on of the first things they taught us as vet techs and it scared me to do it but really you will do fine (((((HUG)))))

Re: 7/17 Georgia's Simon PMPS 176

Whew!!! My DH and I gave Cleo her subq fluids for the first time a few minutes ago. Everything went pretty well once I figured out how to take the stupid top off the needle. We warmed up the fluids and had everything ready to go before we put Cleo on the table. DH distracted her with lots of temptations (she is not diabetic) and she didn't even flinch when I put the needle in. And unlike at the vets, she didn't squirm around when I started the fluids. Probably had to do with the fact that the fluids were not cold like at the vets. It went really well except she was definitely ready to get off the table when I was finished. I know she will get used to it and I am thankful that she was such a good patient.

Meanwhile, Simon has an upset tummy and isn't eating well. He has some diarrhea so I'm going to give him a Pepcid to see if that helps.

Thanks, everyone for all your hand holding on the subq stuff. I needed all your prayers and thoughts and i think it must have helped since things went ok. Thanks and big, big hugs to Claudia, Margorie, and Karrie. Your expertise in all of this has been so helpful.

YAY!!! I knew you could do it - hooray for a successful first try. AWESOME!!!! and they will get better and easier as time goes along. congrats!

sorry about SImon's upset tummy - I hope hope that passes quickly! Feel better Simon!

It is great to hear that the fluids went well and Cleo is feeling better! You will be a pro at it in no time.

Sorry Simon isn't feeling well. Hopefully he gets over the tummy issues soon.

Have a great evening!

Good job, Georgia & DH and Cleo!! It will become routine soon, I'm sure.
Simon, we're sending you some tummy-healing vines. Feel better, buddy!

yay!!! i knew you and DH could do it!!! glad Cleo did very well!!!

it will get easier as time goes by!!!

as per Simon....are you giving the steroid meds with food in his tummy or an empty tummy? it has been suggested to me with Rocket that it is better to give him food with his pred....this is to avoid him feeling worse from the med itself....just wondering about Simon....

I loved all the dancing kitties!! I was watching the movie Black Swan tonight so all the pictures of the dancing kitties went along well with the theme tonight. I liked your dancing kitties so much better than the dancers in the movie. Very disturbing movie!

Claudia, yes, I am giving Simon the ear drops after he has his breakfast. Tonight, he did eat all of his food. I fed him the Fancy Feast so maybe it is a ploy for me to give him the FF instead of the Wellness!
