I keep forgetting to attach the previous day's conversation...sorry!

Report from pet sitter is that Gideon is doing well. Yesterday, I posted about the pet sitter reading the glucometer upside down and telling me Gideon's BG was 852 instead of 258! It was a shock, but figured it out, but had to emphasize to pet sitter that no harm was done. It was just an honest mistake. She kept apologizing, which made me feel bad. Anyways, yesterday she tells me she is running out of strips. I left almost a new container with only a few gone out of it, so she had at least 45. I counted the tests that had been done since we left, and it was only about 20. Well, she though if the strip touched Gideon's ear, and no blood was applied, she would have to use a new strip. So, about 20 extra strips have been used, but that is fine. I am just thankful she is able to test our boy, and she is learning. Next time we go away in August, she will be a pro!

I have had the same thing happen...sometimes I go thru 3 or 4 strips trying to get a reading...not enough blood, too much blood...sometimes if my fingers aren't dry...you name it, its happened and I've wasted another strip - thank goodness for the OneDrop unlimited strips...doesn't cause me as much agony as it used to! My head would say well there goes 30 cents or 35 cents or 50 cents...whatever...then I'd look at all those strips I'd wasted as see the dollar signs...now not so much...

But that's how we learn...and you're right, she'll be an expert soon :)

TJ as t us so funny NOW about the upside down meter reading. I wonder what’s the highest number it will read. I got a hi a few times and a low and both were scary. I’m glad you figured it out.

These actually we're still good strips. She just thought if they touched his ear she couldn't use them. She also knows to take the strip out of the glucometer if time is running out, and just reinsert it for the clock to start again. I think Alphatrak gives you 90 seconds, but I told her 60 seconds to be safe.
