Millie just got a BG of 54. I'm going to give her some honey. She refused to eat the last time I offered some food.

Will she eat plain gravy from the HC food? If she likes that, I'd try it first. Take some deep breaths, Sylvia.Millie just got a BG of 54. I'm going to give her some honey. She refused to eat the last time I offered some food.
Just rubbed honey and gave her a different HC food with she ate a little of.If she won't eat - rub some honey on her gums.
Offer food Hc with honey.
Retest in 20 min.
Rub some more honey - it wears off quickly - 10-20 min max.
Very small amounts only and I'd start draining gravy from HC food into a small dish to have at hand.Just rubbed honey and gave her a different HC food with she ate a little of.
Yes, definitely late nadir, that's why I was worried about the low +4. So glad you folks were here to assist us through this. Her SS tells me she tends to have a late nadir and a slightly too high dose can have longer duration.
Yup@Tanya and Ducia @Yong I have to run an errand. Are you people available to keep an eye on things here?
You'll be busy steering for a while yet. That's why it's good to have gravy ready to go. She might be more likely to lick it up and too much honey/syrup can upset her tummy.Yes, definitely late nadir, that's why I was worried about the low +4. So glad you folks were here to assist us through this.
She wasn't a fan of the honey, fought with me.You'll be busy steering for a while yet. That's why it's good to have gravy ready to go. She might be more likely to lick it up and too much honey/syrup can upset her tummy.

No need to force it, then. Gravy is the way to go. Can someone run to the store to pick up more gravy style food if your supply is low?She wasn't a fan of the honey, fought with me.
The honey was only to buy some time and immediate increase in BG.She wasn't a fan of the honey, fought with me.
Fancy Feast Gravy Lovers - any flavor would do, sold at Walmart and most grocery stores. Can someone run to the store to pick up more gravy style food if your supply is low?

I'd also get some FF Grilled - the MC, for later.
Hate being spoil spoil BUT: we must know what the HC done to that nasty 54...I was going to test again but she is eating now and I figured I'd let her eat in peace. She tends to run & hide with too much testing.
That may still be a little honey effect. If she'll eat another bite or two of food, let her eat it. Retest in 30 minutes. Usually you'll wait for 3 rising numbers, not influenced by food to go to hourly testing. She may not be quite at nadir yet.Her BG went up to 86!!!!!
Thanks everyone. I have company coming in 10 minutes bot I will continue to monitor her. I'll do one in 30 minutes. If it stays level or goes up, I guess it would OK to monitor every hour?
Yes, I'd say so - after the 86. If higher - then not as often. If it stays level or goes up, I guess it would OK to monitor every hour?
I count on her eating some HC.Hopefully Millie is in the clear soon.
Agree, I cannot read well into the SS if there are so little low numbers...If she holds her recent pattern, she'll bounce after PMPS
OK, sorry someone was on the computer. Her +7 was 144 (that was 30 minutes ago). I have to leave for a couple of hours for an appointment. I will leave HC food. My husband is home & I'll ask him to teat her at the +8 (1/2 hour). That may still be a little honey effect. If she'll eat another bite or two of food, let her eat it. Retest in 30 minutes. Couldn't have done it without all of you, thanks again!Just getting home and I'm glad to see the situation is under control.![]()
Thank you!Great job getting through all that drama today and keeping your kitty safe. Hopefully the bounce will clear quickly!![]()
Yes, Bubba had a late nadir, really late. His AM and PM precshot numbers were his nadir. It actually made shooting low numbers easier because he was only going up from the pre shot number.Having a late nadir can be tricky, the feeding schedule might need to be adjusted. I think @Bobbie And Bubba was a late nadir kitty (in remission now). Maybe she has some insight for you.
