Last Loose Lips Condo for Smokey

Morning friends,

I would like to ask for more prayers for Miss Smokey, she is not doing well. She hasn't eaten well since we lost Zeus last week, and therefore hasn't pooped either. But this weekend she has really declined. She is having trouble walking, she takes a few steps and has to sit. She ate a few licks of things yesterday (I puréed everything, she licked the juice but that was about it). I had to syringe feed. I syringe fed this morning too, but she only allowed maybe 1/4 can, and I think much of that went on the towels. Her meow is sad, her head is hung low. She isn't lifting her head like she used to when I scratch her head.

I'm going to call the vet as soon as they open, unfortunately I think we might be near the time when I will have to say goodbye to her as well. My heart is very heavy and sad this morning. The pain of losing Zeus is still so real.

I am so sad for you to hear this. I pray the vet can offer something to help, or maybe find something that's bothering Smokey that can be remedied.

Grief can take such a toll on humans and animals.

Prayers for Smokey, to be made well, and to not be in pain. I hope the vet can offer some hope. Grief is so powerful.

I'm saying prayers to St. Francis for Smokey to be ok. I hope your vet will come up with a plan to help him feel better, eat and poo. St. Francis knows to watch over and take care of you also. I wish we could be with you but sending angels to be at your side.

Thanks ladies,

I hope she doesn't want to leave either. Her eyes look a little brighter now than they did first thing this morning, and she does still wag the tip of her tail when I pat her or when I talk to her. But she is having a tough time, her head is still hanging low. I hate that I have to leave her this morning, I have a new person starting today.

I hope the vet can help her, even if she has to stay with them for the day to get fluids or IV meds (do they do that? I don't know, wishful thinking?).

Hi Kathie - i a sorry that Smokey is having such a hard time of it. I know our kitties grieve as much as we do. I will hope that the vet can help her. I will be thinking of you today. Many prayers and hugs for both of you. Feel better little one.

(((Kathie))) I've been thinking about you and Smokey and looked yesterday but had trouble getting online. Sending healing vines and prayers. It's a good sign she's looking better. I hope the Vet can diagnose and treat, and Smokey will rally. Lots of love and prayers from us.

I am so sorry to hear about Zeus. I hope Smokey starts feeling better and you too. I have been traveling. This is hard news. I wish you strength.

We just started giving fluids to Zener and he seems to feel a LOT better. I know the idea of an animal communicator sounds a little far out but they can be very helpful. Sending tons of vines to Smokey and big hugs to you, Kathie.

Kathie - I'm so sorry to hear that. I know how much my kitties have an effect on me and I'm so sorry you've had to go through all of this at one time. I'm saying prayers for you today for strength and comfort and for Smokey to feel better.

Sending prayers for Miss Smokey. what started out as depression and not wanting to eat could have actually effected her physically. Hopefully the fluids will help and getting some nutrition in her will turn things around.

Thank you so much for all of the prayers and vines today. Unfortunately, I had to let Miss Smokey go. We were at the vet for 2.5 hours today. After blood work and a urine test, the Vet said that he had bad news for me... Smokey was in kidney failure. What? How is that possible? We had blood work on May 28th, according to them all was within normal ranges. Today the levels were so high (he told me what they were, I have no idea at this point, I was just in shock) that they couldn't give me a number, it didn't register. How is that possible? He said that most often they see this if a kitty has gotten into antifreeze. No possible way, Smokey is strictly indoor and doesn't ever go outside (except in the carrier to go to the vet). I asked about Zeus' Leukeran, if that could have had any affect (they did share LBs, but I always scooped as soon as I could, every time that I got home, and each time that I heard one of them in the LB). He said he didn't think it was that. He couldn't give me an answer. The only thing that he said was to write down all of the foods that I fed since May and maybe we will see a food recall or something later on. That certainly doesn't make me feel any better. This sucks! I can't stop crying. What did I do wrong? I lost both of my kitties in a week. Life is so unfair.

Kathie....I am crying soo hard for you right now...I can feel your pain and I am sooo sorry...Oh Lord...have mercy ....take Kathie into your arms...hold her through the pain...take Smokey to Zeus...let them be together...please give Kathie a sign so she knows they have found each other again.

Kathie-I'm so sorry. You are right. It's not fair. I'm just so sorry ur dealing with this so soon after Zeus. And u did everything right. This world is just not always kind. I will be praying for comfort for u. Again, I'm so sorry.

My heart is just breaking for you :cry: You're right....Life isn't fair. I'm so sorry you are having to go thru this, again. It's so hard. But just know you did everything you knew to do for Smokey. You're a Great Bean and gave him a great life. I hope your heart begins to heal with time ♥

This is just so unfair.
This really really sucks.
I'm really angry, and I'm really sad with you.
I know no words are enough to bring comfort to you, but Smokey is now with Zeus and they are watching over you together.

(((((Kathie))))). I just heard about this and I just wish we could all be there for you in person. You are right...it is not fair. Neither was Zeus crossing. I will tell you that you did nothing wrong. Sometimes the vets miss something in bloodwork or they just think something is not that big of an issue ....but then it quickly becomes one. That is exactly how I lost my Maxie so I know it happens. Do not even think of blaming yourself ever. You are an amazing, loving, devoted mama.

We have lit candles for Smokey and Zeus.

Keeping you in our thoughts and prayers.
 
Kathie, I was so shocked earlier, I didn't know what to say. I'm so sorry. You were a wonderful mombean to Zeus and Smokey. You did the best you could for both of them. Life is not fair sometimes, but you did nothing wrong. I know it is difficult, but Zeus and Smokey are happy and healthy again. I will keep you in my prayers.

I am so sorry for your loss. I know the heartbreak you must be feeling and I wish I had some words of wisdom to ease your pain. It's so obvious how much you loved Smokey and took such great care of her. I know she loved her mom and you did everything possible to save her. It is not your fault and the important thing is that Smokey knows that too. My heart and prayers are with you.

But you did nothing wrong; as a matter of fact , you did everything right.

I am stunned and overwhelmed and wish I could be there with you. This is horribly unfair. I agree with Marje -- you did nothing wrong. I actually saw something not dissimilar with my mom when my father died. I think she held herself together for him and when he was gone, her body gave up. Smokey must have loved Zeus so much that it was inconceivable to be without him. Unfortunately, it is miserably hard for you. There are no words that are adequate. I am just so, so sorry.

Fly free Smokey and land softly. Zeus and far too many that we dearly love are waiting to play and keep you safe until you are reunited with the one you love best.

I am so sorry. I lost my furiend Pepe a couple of years ago, and I was very sad. But Pepe told me before he went that he was happy to be with a human who cared so much about him and loved him so much.

Pepe told me to tell our human that he will always be with us in our hearts and to not be sad, but happy that we were able to spend our time on this planet together.
 
Smokey must have loved Zeus so much that it was inconceivable to be without him.

Kathie, I am so sorry to hear this news. Its really unfair and you did not do anything wrong. You loved both Zeus and Smokey so much, just remember that they will always be with you, watching over you. I am sending you lots of prayers for comfort. *hugs*
 
Oh, no! This is so heartbreaking and truly unfair. What a shock for you to lose two beloved kitties in a week. I cannot imagine how difficult this must be for you.
Please know that so many of us wish we could console you and help you through this. Around the world your friends here are crying with you.

((((Kathie)))) My heart breaks for you. It's so sad to lose both so close together. My aunt had two sister kitties who did the same. The second just wasted away quickly after the first. Although Smokey and Zeus are now together, it leaves an even bigger hole in your heart. I wish we could all reach through the internet and give you a great big hug. :YMHUG: :YMHUG:
