Better late than never? Huey seemed agitated at the +3 test, it took three or four tries to get a reading, and he finished off his meal for the first time in a couple days. I think partly it was because of the bonito flakes I put on top of the Evo Chicken, do I now have a fish addict on my hands?? I put down more chicken food after the +3 and he ate that up too, and I'm rechecking til he starts going up.

He's normally bottomed out by now, if he's going up at the next test, is it safe to assume he'll stay up the rest of the night?

Good catch Nancy! Looks like Huey is on a mission.

I'd wait to get a couple more rising tests without food before assuming he'll be fine for the night. So, withhold food for now and test again in 1/2 hour.

He was much calmer at the +3.5, his usual patient treat-hungry self. Am I imagining things or did that ten points make that much difference? Shower, retest, and I guess we'll see!

Is there a difference in the dose you are giving between a drop and 0.1u? He's getting low on his dose but he's still got slot of blue on his SS.

I wonder if it might level him out a little more to try and catch those lows before they happen. He almost always dives by +2. I would suggest trying to get the +1 and +2 tests and slowing him a bit so he doesn't go quite so low. It would be good to try and get him to spend more time in healing green numbers.

My 0.1u is the plunger almost but not quite touching the zero line, and what I've been calling a drop is 0.1 minus two small drops (I checked and there's still something in the syringe then). I can get some more +1 and +2 tests in, but I'm not sure what you mean, Marje, by slowing him down.

If you feed him some MC food, you could slow down his drop from PS to +2 and +3. If you spread his portions out over 2 or three mini meals that you feed at PS, +1, and +2, you could possibly flatten him out a bit more.

Ahhhh, I see. What's the %carbs range for 'medium carb food'? Spread out the food and then keep the 0.1u? Catsicles and a timed feeder are on my list of things to prepare. There's just been so many of them that came up so quickly...

I'm about to pass out but I thought I'd do one more test and it is almost exactly the same as the last two. I've been giving him more food gradually over the course of the night, could that be why his BG is hovering around 60? Is that pancreas sputtering away?? I'm so tired, I just put out more food in the hopes that he'll eat if he starts to fall while I'm asleep...
