Off to work... Fed her at +3 and +4 to be safe. Also leaving LC food out. She'll probably be bouncing anyways...she has that bouncy look in her eye.

Just wondering....I have to go to work at around +4. Usually when I've shot these lower numbers I've been around to test at nadir, so just a little worried today. I will be leaving food out. Do most cats self regulate if they start falling too low? Will they go seek out the food? If she's in the 60's or 50's when it's time to leave, should I feed some MC food just to be safe?

It's hard to say what your cat will do - I leave food out all the time, carb content depending on the day's numbers, and I even leave it right by my cat so she doesn't have to go anywhere, but she rarely eats it even when it seems she probably went low enough to trigger a bounce. I still hope that if she was actually dangerously low, she would instinctively eat something, but I know I can't rely on that. It might not be a bad idea to feed the MC before you leave, just to give you peace of mind while you're at work.

So far, it looks like Ebby may have an early nadir. That works in your favor. If you see that her numbers are lower than you'd like, by all means feed some higher carb food. Safety is key! You may want to consider getting a +2 and +3 test. That way, if numbers are dropping, it gives you more time to work at getting them up vs. testing as your out the door and worrying all day.

FWIW, I'm convinced that Gabby sleeps through the automatic feeder opening. If I don't tell her there's food, I think she snoozes.

Hi Amy, Thanks for the advice. Yeah, if she is low, I'll leave food right by her. I imagine she might not like doing the stairs if she were to go hypo.

Sienne, that's funny about Gabby...Ebby is the same. She much prefers sleep over eating. I now take food up to the bedroom, and feed her in bed, because otherwise she doesn't always show much interest. My DH protested at first, but now is ok with breakfast in bed. I'll get a +3 and +4 too.

Hi Doreen, thanks for stopping in. What does TBP mean? My first guess was "The Bad Place" ...aka work! Maybe this means I'm ready for a new job. :lol:

:lol: I looked up TBP. I think it really does mean The Bad Place! :lol: Right? We must all need new jobs, or how about no job at all!
