Most Recent Condo

Hi All.

Another late night/early morning condo, but I just wanted to let you all know we are still here. It has been a tough week so far. My arthritis is so bad in my hands that it is very painful and difficult to type, so I haven't posted much. I've also been going 90 miles an hour constantly, and have had little computer time. Running Sasha back and forth to UCD takes 1.5 hours twice a day, and I end up doing errands in between. Everything takes longer on crutches, and using the crutches has played havoc with my hands/wrists. Arthritis, tendonitis, and maybe another itis or two I don't know about. Sorry, don't meant to whine. Just want to explain why I've been AWOL. I've read some condos, but it's just so hard to type right now. I finally got a doctor appointment, with a doctor I've never seen since both my rheumatologist and my primary care are on vacation. Paws crossed he'll give me some cortisone shots! Nasty, painful things, but they do help.

On the way to Sasha's radiation session today, I got a "low tire pressure" message on my dashboard. I pulled into a gas station (I needed a couple of gallons, anyway). While I was trying to pump the gas, a trucker from two islands over asked if he could help me. I said no thanks, I could do it, but then I asked if he thought my tire looked flat. He said it was definitely too low, and told me to pull over to the air hose when I was done. Sure enough, when I pulled away from the pump, he was by the air hose, motioning me over. He had quarters in the machine before I could open my door and was pumping up my tire! He wouldn't let me reimburse him and said "we all need to help each other". I told him he was an angel. :-D I knew my tires needed rotating, so I called Mark and he said to hit Costco on the way home. They told me the tire had a puncture and was too low (the tread) for them to repair. We knew I needed new tires, but hadn't planned to get them yet. They aired it up and I drove home. By the time I got home, I got the call to get Sasha, so I ate lunch and headed back out. There wasn't much time after we got home till Cinco's shot, so we waiting till he was taken care of, fed the cats, and went back to Costco to get new tires. The tire pressure light came on while we were on the way there. The tires have to be ordered, and will be in either tomorrow afternoon or Thurs morning. I asked the guy to please just fix the puncture so I can drive my car till then. He told me it was against company policy, and I played the pity card: "my cat has cancer and I have to drive her to UCD every day for radiation". I'm shameless. But it worked! He fixed the tire!

Cinco is obviously surfing safely while I'm otherwise engaged. He has added his own level of stress, though, in that he's suffering from Summer Appy Syndrome. Not something this bean enjoys. But it seems to be pervasive - everyone but Harvey has it. He apparently didn't get the memo. Sasha is really stressing me, as she ate very little over the weekend - maybe a third of normal - and today was the first day she did not eat at UCD. She ate maybe 1/4 of her dinner at home. The student in charge of her, Randy, told me if her appy isn't better tomorrow they'll give her a stimulant. He didn't seem concerned about it, but I am. Once you've lost a cat to hepatic lipidosis, you stress about inappetance. Please send appy vines for Sasha (and a few for Cinco and Minka wouldn't hurt, either).

Minka is doing well, other than that summer appy thing. She gets it every year, so it doesn't upset me quite as much with her, but maybe a little. Harvey is fine, and eating well.

I'll try to be more interactive tomorrow, but no promises.

Sending healing vines to all in need and hugs to all their beans. :YMHUG:

Sending appy vines to Cinco, Sasha and Minka. I'm glad Harvey is eating for you. I hope you can get the shots for your hands. Hopefully your toe is doing better. I'm glad you were able to get your tire patched. It's always nice to run into a person like the man who helped you with your tire at the gas station. Sending prayers for you too. :YMHUG: :YMHUG:

Sending a boatload of vines your way, Tricia....for those pesky summer appy issues, and for your body to rest and recover from all you've been doing lately. Don't worry about being interactive - worry about taking care of yourself and your kitties!!

So sorry you're having so much pain, Tricia! Arthritis is one of those diseases (along with cancer) that it's way overdue that they found cures for. Makes too many people's lives miserable.

Glad that Cinco's being such a good boy! I've left strict instructions with China that if he shows up while she's down in the lagoon, she's to keep watch on him and drag him to the shore if he goes too deep (now if I can just get her to stay there with him!...lol)

I know you have to worry about Sasha's appetite because that's our job as beans...to worry....but if they're telling you it's normal, I'm sure it'll pass. They sound like an excellent team of doctors/techs that really know what they're doing.

Sure am happy they agreed to fix your tire for you! I know they figure if they fix it, you won't come back to buy the new ones so they don't like to do that (there's also the liability issue if your tires are pretty bald). We do what we have to do to take care of our kitties!

Sending tons of vines for you, Sasha, Minka and Cinco...and throw a few more in for Harvey just in case!
