July 10, 2019 Condo - Reduction Earned

Evening everyone!
I survived another weekend at the pediatric walk-in! Hooray! In other news, Lou has been doing beautifully on the 2.0u dose. I wouldn't be surprised if he's working towards another reduction. Since I'm digging being on the dosing line, I'm happy at this dose if he's happy. :D

As far as the vet visit on Tuesday goes, is there any concern to giving him his vaccinations that I may not be aware of? He hasn't had any since he was diagnosed (they're given every 3 years). He's never had any reactions, so I'm not worried about that. Do they affect the BGs? If so, how long?

Thanks in advance everyone! I hope you all have a wonderful evening and your kitties surf safely! :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Have you read Dt. Lisa’s page about vaccinations? I basically stopped Neko’s after her diabetes DX, wish I had done it sooner, I guess it also depends if Lou is an indoor cat. I have seen both reactions and non reactions to vaccinations.

Nice to have a dose on the line. :D

I haven't heard of it, but I'll see if I can look it up. Lou's a mostly indoor cat, but we've started taking him for walks outside on occasion. He doesn't have free rein.

Lou is looking great!!!

Glad you asked about vaccinations. I had wondered the same thing the other day, but hadn’t asked or researched yet.

Me too. Frankie is scheduled for is "big" kitten vaccs this upcoming Saturday. He had his "distemper" about a month ago but vet felt he was still too young and didn't weigh enough for the large kitten vaccinations. I honestly don't know what to do or even what to ask to open the discussion with the vet.

That article is long, but I'm not sure if I know the answer to my question by the end of it. I'll have to read it again tonight. Lou's due for his distemper and rabies vaccinations.

Thanks for the information Lizzie! I feel like I've been reading forever, and I can't quite decide what to do. I've always vaccinated and I've never had any problems (not saying that's significant in itself). There's a lot of information, but I'm not finding clear research on early seniors. Rabies vaccines are required in North Dakota, and we get that and the distemper (not sure which one that is specifically) every 3 years. We'd have to get the rabies vaccine at least. We do plan on traveling with Lou in the next year or two, so it would be silly not to have it. I assume many hotels would require it. All I've established for sure in my research is that I will talk to the vet about which brand of rabies vaccine they use (does it have adjuvants?). I am thinking I'll talk to the vet and see what they say. If I read any more my brain is going to explode...

I never had a hotel ask for a vaccination record in Canada or the US, five different states. Of two times crossing the border by car, and twice by air, asked only once. And that was only for a health certificate, which had Neko given a pass on her vaccines due to her diabetes.
