It sure feels like a Monday ... draggin' this morning. ~O)

AMPS at 125 ... DH and I debated back and forth but finally decided to give her the .5u. I can test at +2 and then again at +5.

Oh, and if having 9 cats in the house isn't enough, I'm keeping my daughter's kitty Larrybear for 8 days. DD and S-I-L are going to Hilton Head Island and the thought of poor Larry being alone all that time just made me so sad. Sure, a friend was going to stop by once or twice a day, but still ...

So we brought him home yesterday and have him set up in daughter's old bedroom. I even slept in there with him last night.
DH: "you do know you have to give him back next week, right?"

Re: 7/14 - Alice: AMPS 125

nice AMPS there Alice.

When Sammy was getting close to going OTJ, I was down to giving one drop. The way i did it, consistantly, was to hold the syringe, press the plunger in really hard (compressing the little rubber end on it tightly), insert into the vial and then release the pressure on the plunger, remove the needle from the vial. it would draw up a perfect little drop every time.

Just thought I would pass that along in case you need it.

Linda - I hope Alice does need that info one day ... maybe even one day soon (thinking positive!)

What type of syringes do you use, Linda? I just bought a big box of the ThinPro. Initially, I liked them so much better than the kind I was using. The 1/2 unit marking is so helpful, but DH and I find that the plunger slides so easily it's hard to get the insulin to stay in there until we give the shot (I hope that makes sense).

Alice was 120 tonight, so we gave her another .5u.

I use bd microfine with 1/2 unit markings. The smallest one with a short syringe.

Thanks, Charlotte. I will look for those. The other brand I was using was BD, but didn't have the 1/2 unit markings.

BD are the best I've found so far but they are pricey. If you use the ADW link at the top of the page the board gets a kick back when you order from them. They have the BD's with half unit marks.

Re: 7/14 - Alice: AMPS 125: PMPS 120: +3 44

Well, Alice decided to give me a scare tonight with her +3 dropping to 44.

I gave her a spoon of the Purina ProPlan chicken with gravy and a Blue Buffalo Kitty Yum as a test treat. Tested her again in 30 minutes and she was up to 69. DH has gone to bed, but I'm going to stay up and test her a couple more times at least. Will probably sleep downstairs and set the alarm again if need be.

Re: 7/14 - Alice: AMPS 125: PMPS 120: +3 44

Good news Miss Alice just earned herself a dose reduction. Take her down tomorrow to .25u. She sure looks like she wants to walk herself off insulin and right into OTJ status. :thumbup

I'll be watching for updates until I turn in and then I have it set up so I get an alert on my phone when there is a new post here so I should hear it tonight and can check in on you both if you need me.

Re: 7/14 - Alice: AMPS 125: PMPS 120: +5 89

Thank you so much, Mel, for your reassurance. I really don't want to wake you up in the middle of the night (hope I'm not posting too late even now)!

Alice has risen, doubled in fact, to 89 here at midnight EST. I'm going to set the alarm for 2 AM, but will not post unless it's truly an emergency.

So even if her numbers are high in the morning, should we just go with the .25u? I probably gave her more of that chicken with gravy that I needed to (she sure didn't mind) so I'm thinking her numbers might be up a lot compared to the last 3 days. We shall see!

Thanks again, Mel, and good night!
